Role Purpose
Consultants work on billable engagements to design, develop, and implement solutions by using standard methods, techniques and tools applicable to the area in which they are working. Senior consultants provide support, advice and guidance on the correct application of a solution or technique. Assignments range in complexity from basic analysis and problem solving to developing recommendations for complete business solutions or technical applications. Consultants achieve the productivity metrics associated with their position.
Key Responsibilities/Outcomes
? Working with minimal supervision of managers, leads and assists junior consultants in resolving routine problems, and is capable of resolving non-routine problems.
? Selects an area of focus in which to specialize (e.g., solutions specialization, architectural design, project management, etc.).
? Installs non-standard software updates.
? Investigates, analyzes and resolves routine problems in selected functional areas.
? Assess, gather, and evaluate client capabilities and needs.
? Performs benchmark needs analysis and requirements definitions in selected functional areas.
? Functions as the technical lead on small projects or portions of larger projects.
? Assists with architecture design.
? Performs systems design and installation.
? Coordinates work with specialists, solutions engineers and clients, as required.
? Is capable of designing quality control and test procedures.
? Applies technical expertise to support the development of the technology architecture and the total system solution.
? Builds client relationships by interfacing with the client organization on the solution design.
? Supports clients by designing, customizing and delivering solutions training and technical presentations.
? Reviews, for accuracy, the technical content of proposals prepared by junior consultants.
? Performs competitive analyses (e.g., performs technical research in order to compare Unisys to competitor products and solutions).
? Leads the technical portion of demonstrations, internally and externally.
? Provides sales support – answers technical questions, completes portions of proposals (including hardware/software configurations), prepares packaged presentations, and conducts demonstrations.
? Suggests components of the sales strategy for basic systems integration products and services in selected functional areas.
? Proposes opportunities to develop follow-on business in client accounts and communicates ideas to the project manager.
Builds strong working relationships inside and outside of Unisys.
Key Qualifications
A minimum of five to six years successful professional experience plus a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and technical certifications as appropriate. Prior work experience should include:
? Independently performing benchmark needs assessment, requirements definition and the Design, development and installation of solutions for a variety of client engagements.
? Completing portions of proposals, presentations and demonstrations.
? Conducting technical presentations and solutions training.
