POSITION TITLE: Project Manager - China

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under the direction of the Project Management Office Director – Emerging Markets, this individual will successfully organize and lead project teams focused on developing and commercializing innovative new products for the Emerging Markets. The cross-functional project teams led by this individual will include personnel from various groups within the organization and outside vendors. The majority of resources managed by this individual will be located in the Emerging Markets. The multiple projects managed by this individual will represent significant growth opportunities for the Emerging Markets. These projects may be global in both scale and scope, and have direct visibility to senior management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Lead cross-functional teams located primarily in China and interact with the global teams on key new product development efforts for the Emerging Markets
- Develop and execute master project plans including schedules, budgets, and resources
- Define project resource requirements and negotiate team assignments with functional managers and external vendors
- Plan, coordinate and track project activities
- Management of project budget and oversight of capital expenditures
- Develop and monitor risk mitigations plans to ensure business and project objectives are met
- Support outside contract/supply agreement contract development and vendor management
- Challenge functional groups to meet project goals and commitments
- Provide routine project status communications to project team and management
- Ensure communication across Regional Business Units and Global Business Unit
- Strong planning, organizational, and leadership skills
- Ability to balance customer, manufacturing, and business requirements to expedite launch of the right product to market
- Ability to work independently (self-directed)
- Track record of managing projects to schedule
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (continued):

- Experience in successfully collaborating with functional departments (e.g. Legal, Regulatory, Operations, Procurement, Clinical Affairs, Operations, Marketing, Quality, etc.)
- Excellent interpersonal and influence management skills including evidence of managing multi-discipline teams
- Ability to effectively handle conflict through proactive action, and direct and timely communication
- Attention to detail and experience to check behind the scenes to ensure surprises are minimized
- Experience in managing teams with a diverse cultural background
- Sets the standard for timeliness, work ethic, and personal integrity
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Strong Microsoft Project skills
- Ensure that the Project Design History File is current and accurate and manage documentation and communication needs for the project, ensuring all regulatory standards are met (e.g. project SharePoint).
- Support Core Team meetings by preparing the agenda, project updates, taking meeting minutes.
- Manage issues and risks by monitoring known risks and preparing mitigation plans for each of these risks.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education required/ preferred:
BA/BS Science, Engineering, Project Management, or Business Administration. Masters preferred.
Experience: Five years of relevant experience which includes three years’ experience in a project management position of which at least two years includes experience in the product development process. This position requires an understanding of the scientific, technical, manufacturing, marketing, clinical and regulatory processes involved in the development of a medical device product.


Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
Project management skills.
Effective planning and organization skills including the proven ability to work against multiple objectives simultaneously.
Prepare audience specific reports and communications.
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office products including MS Outlook and Project.
Translate communicated ideas into robust project plans.
Detail oriented.
Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills. Preferred Skills/Qualifications (continued):

Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to establish and maintain a trusted role with the various stakeholders in coordinating multiple functions
across the organization.
Work independently and collaboratively across functions.
Preference will be given to candidates with a successful track record of managing at least two new product introductions from concept to launch
Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience driving projects in emerging markets in which resources in those local markets were utilized
Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience in the development of medical devices pertinent to the segment’s four GBU’s platforms
Medical Device Project Development Experience a very strong plus

Other Skills: Fluent in English; Fluent in Mandarin (when teams include Chinese Nationals)
“Certified Associate in Project Management” or “Project Management Professional” (PMI Certification) within 12 months of entering position.
SUCCESS METRICS
- Number of Emerging Markets projects successfully transferred to EM commercialization teams
- Worldwide revenue from products successfully transferred to EM commercialization teams (actual versus expected)
- Execute projects within schedule and budget
- Ability to develop, and motivate a cross functional project team
- Project KPIs equivalent or better than those of GBU’s PMOs


ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/SCOPE:
Reports directly to the EM Project Management Office Director, and indirectly to their site manager (e.g. when based in China, site manager is China R&D VP).

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Office environment - based in China. Some travel required (<20%).
