I. Background Information
Position Title: GMIO Shop Director -General Assembly / Paint / Press, Body & Maintenance / Powertrain
Function/Department: MFG, GMIO
Location: Shanghai, China


II. Areas of Responsibility
- Take responsibility to support Quality, Throughput & Cost Improvement across plant operations in GMIO by applying GM-GMS principles and best practices
- Create new Lean Manufacturing Best Practices for GM
- Provide support to plant operations to assist in elimination of waste.
- Coordinate sharing of improvement ideas across the plants (e.g., BuGM).
- Understand lean manufacturing techniques and processes to assist the plant with implementation / improvement plans.
- Analyze manpower for areas of waste (i.e. R2R, repair, templates, GCR).
- Develop a close link with the appropriate ME Center. Become the voice of manufacturing in areas such as BOE and BOP.
- Measure, collect and share metrics to drive improvements in plant SPQRCE performance. Make recommendations for improvement.
- Coordinate monthly reviews with all plants reviewing progress and opportunities.
- Provide support on new strategies and projects (e.g., SPS, Diagnostic Process)
- Provide support on new model launches - lean measurable, benchmark data, operation readiness.
- Provide support for new Greenfield & new JV plants
- Provide operational support when required
- Provide support as a Principle Lead to plants and other Shop Directors
- Perform GMS calibrations, pre-calibrations, BIQ assessments and coaching.
- Run shop level scorecard & BPD for GMIO
Run shop level benchmarking within GM/GMIO/Globally OEM's



III. Knowledge, Skills, Experience, and Competencies

Knowledge & Skills:
- In depth Lean Manufacturing Knowledge
- High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
- Effective oral and written communication skills: fluent in English, oral and written, at a business level
- Coaching and leadership skills
- Drive and Motivation
- Ability to give constructive criticism in a positive format

Experience/Education:
- 5 years experience in Lean Manufacturing Plants (Vehicle &/or Powertrain)
- Engineering Degree
