I. Background Information
Position Title: Supplier Quality Engineer - Switch
Function/Department: Supplier Quality, Global Purchasing & Supply Chain
Location: Shanghai, China

II. Purpose
· Work involves functioning as technical liaison between Wiring CT Purchasing, Engineering, Manufacturing, and suppliers to implement and monitor advanced quality planning, resolve quality issues and provide technical support.

III. Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Administer Advanced Product Quality Planning
· Monitor advanced quality planning with awarded switch suppliers.
· Review and approve supplier quality plans on new part programs.
· Review supplier manufacturing processes. Assure supplier process control planning (KCDS).
· Implement and monitor the part qualification and certification process with selected suppliers.
· Review supplier tools, fixture, and part design.
· Assure Part and Process approval and improvement.
· Administer supplier technical product readiness activities. Provide technical support to customers during start-up activities.

- Drive quality improvements and quality problem resolution
· Determine cause of supplier quality problems and coordinate/implement effective and timely resolutions.
· Monitor and Improve supplier quality performance. Conducting workshops at supplier locations, providing technical assistance in developing a quality system, or other technical support as required.

- Liaise between Wiring CT Purchasing, Engineering, Manufacturing, and suppliers
· Function as a liaison between Purchasing, Engineering, Manufacturing, plant Supplier Quality and suppliers to resolve supplier quality issues and to provide technical support.
· Participate as member or resource to Product Development Teams meetings.
· Regularly exchange information with others inside and outside the work group, including GM and supplier facilities.
· Develop waste elimination proposals for buyers.
· Maintain required documentation and files.

- Support Global Wiring CT Sourcing Decisions
· Conduct Potential Supplier Audit or Process Control Plan Audit based on purchasing request.
· Have a supporting Quality Business Case QUAD report approved according to sourcing eligibility criteria.


IV. Knowledge, Skills, Experience

Knowledge and Skills:
· Solid knowledge of Electronics, Soldering (e.g., reflow, wave, and manual soldering, etc), terminal application, AAR and TALC etc. Experience of solving frequent failure mode in the process. Familiar with molding and painting process.
· Knowledge of switch product and process standard. Familiar with KPC, KCC controls.
· Demonstrated thorough knowledge of geometric design and tolerance and gage design and function.
· Demonstrated thorough knowledge of AIAG 5 manuals, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA and SPC.
· Demonstrated thorough knowledge of manufacturing and assembly plant process, procedures, facilities, and equipment.
· Demonstrated knowledge of GM quality processes and standards, Top Focus process and Quality System Basics
· Demonstrated ability to investigate quality problems and to apply sound technical judgment to develop possible solutions.
· Proficient in oral and written communication skills. Good communication skills in both English and Chinese.
· Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills to effectively lead, motivate, and facilitate others in group situations and instruct others in new techniques.

Education and Experience
· College degree with major in Electronics or Engineering.
· Proficiency as a Supplier Quality Engineer, or minimum of three years of experience in Manufacturing, Quality, or Engineering, including experience in implementing advanced quality planning process.

Others
· Ability to travel within China (approximately 50% of the time).
