RETAIL SHOP: SITE CONSTRUCTION, FURNITURE PRODUCTION AND INSTALLATION
Description
A design engineer needs to have sound knowledge about architecture, how to read blueprints and drawings and should also know the functions of various construction related furniture. He should also be aware of the building codes, rules and regulations that are prevalent in the state as well as the must have facilities on a construction site for the workers. An ability to solve technical problems and to make recommendations or suggest solutions to problems are important. Good communication skills, commitment and drive, a love for the job and a genuine interest in maintaining relationships with other team-members is a must.
Responsabilities
the design engineer is responsible for developing new products and the systems which will be used to produce them.
He work towards improving the efficiency and performance of existing designs, machinery and equipment, systems and products
A design engineer undertakes extensive research to determine whether a new product will be cost effective. This involves using CAD to produce technical plans and working with prototypes.
Design engineers work to develop product sketches, drafts and designs.
He use various design tools, equipment, and computer applications. Design engineers take into consideration several factors when working on projects. They include cost, maintenance, safety regulations, legal stipulations, the environment, quality and other production guidelines.
He consider the environmental, safety and mechanical effects the product will have on the consumer and other agents. The professional must be innovative and creative and often work on his own initiative.
The designs need to be feasible before actual construction or manufacturing begins.
Has to stay in touch with the project managers, production manager, technician in the factory, site contractor and suppliers in order to ensure drawers follow real and proper feasability.
The design engineer also has to check the materials used for construction and ensure that optimal solution are used.
He also needs to prepare reports on time and ensure that all records are maintained up to date at all times.
Most importantly, a design engineer has to ensure that all the drawings are compliant with the law and state building codes, like fire alarm systems in the building, fire exits, ensuring that the lighting facilities are proper, have facilities for disabled people and general facilities like elevators and escalators.
Tasks

Testing - collecting and analysing data from tests on prototypes.
Modifying designs and re-testing - there are several stages before a product is ready for manufacturing.
Reporting - writing or presenting regular progress reports for project managers and clients.
Environmental assessment - taking into account the environmental impact of new products and their manufacturing processes and how they would be safely disposed of.
You will normally work in a small team, with each technician working on a different part of a project under the guidance of the Project Manager.
