Job Title: System Engineer

Basic function
This is an intermediate level systems engineering position in the area of electronic systems. Individual may be assigned tasks in various areas of systems support and development based on department requirements and project schedules. A complete understanding of board layout principles and overall hardware disciplines is required, along with knowledge of transmission line and wiring characteristics, and packaging and manufacturing principles. The individual should have a complete understanding of Engineering Change Request (ECR/ECN) processes and formal release of parts and drawings. This person would need the ability to lead a multi-disciplined hardware/software team in a project from concept, through scheduling, design, and pilot phases and manufacturing. Assigned tasks will be generally defined with the intention of allowing the individual to further develop engineering skills in the area of electronic systems development, systems integration, and product integration. Individual will be supervised generally as necessary. May be assigned project leadership duties.


Duties and responsibilities:
Applies existing education, work skills, and previous systems engineering experience to the implementation and support of system level software or systems assignments in an environment with limited supervision. Specific duties include:
1. Generation and evaluation of functional and design specifications
2. Generation of project schedules pertaining to assigned project.
3. Design of electronic systems
4. Implementation of electronic systems
5. Testing of electronic systems
6. Generation of system test plans
7. Submittal of systems for quality assurance testing, and subsequent follow-up
8. Support of software systems as necessary
9. Supervision of other individuals as assigned
10. Input into performance appraisals of supervised individuals as requested
11. Administrative duties as necessary including reporting hours worked, submission of status and expense reports, and related
12. Acting as a resource to other electronic system engineers
13. Maintain a productive work environment
14. Set-up and maintain personal workstation and other tools directly related to this position
15. Obtain necessary training to maintain skill level
16. Identify and recommend improvements in system development processes
17. Provide on-site support as required

Special knowledge, skills and abilities:
1. A BSEE or BSCS or equivalent degree with 2 to 5 years experience, a BSCS or equivalent degree with some exposure to electronic systems design and 2 to 5 years experience, or a BSET or equivalent degree with 2 to 5 years experience as and Electronic Systems Engineer II or equivalent.
2. Experience with C, C++, or other structured and object oriented programming languages and general software and systems development practices. Experience with real-time operating system environments. Experience with computer system hardware and architecture. Experience with software system component integration.
3. Strong Mandarin and English communication skills
