The Product Quality Assurance (PQA) Specialist (Asia) plays a pivotal role in the customer experience by ensuring our vendors deliver quality products that exceed our customers’ expectations, ensuring Canadian Tire continuously evolves to meet the changing needs of our customers.

To excel as a PQA Specialist, you’ll require a strong understanding of product quality practices, and proven product quality experience. You’ll be accountable for product quality assurance activities in Asia for assigned categories, working with key stakeholders and engaging them to ensure higher standards of quality, improved customer perception, and reduced merchandise return levels.

You’ll be a mentor guiding merchandising and branding teams to make more informed decisions by providing technical and product design expertise, in turn helping our stores obtain the best products required for Canadians to enjoy the jobs and joys of everyday living.

Our best PQA Specialists are experienced in product development, testing and auditing practices and well as manufacturing engineering quality control and management to ensure consistent production delivery and address key issues and demonstrate continual improvement. They possess the relevant product knowledge that makes them technical experts in evaluating product quality and developing corrective action plans.

Responsibilities

? Oversee Product Quality Assurance activities in Asia for assigned categories, including vendor development and improvement, CAP process, Golden sample program, and product and vendor investigations.
? Develop and lead vendor training sessions to ensure quality systems are up-to-date and CTC quality program is understood
? Monitor and report on 3rd Party Service Providers activities to ensure they perform at or above their required service levels
? Act as Product Quality Assurance expert with PRO team, vendors, and Category Business Managers (CBM) in the Asian market
? Liaise with Canadian Tire Corporate (CTC) Home Office Quality Assurance team and other stakeholders to execute Product Quality activities
? Execute and monitor the Golden sample program including acquisition of samples and approval by required stakeholders in Asia and at CTC Home Office
? Execute and monitor the certification of vendors for producing private label products for CTC, including the different tiers for brand quality levels
? Prepare and conduct the Product Quality kick off at PRO office in support of Merchandising buying trips
? Provide technical support to PRO merchandisers and CBM’s while on sourcing trips and during finalization
? Monitor and report on high-profile projects to ensure full visibility and vendor compliance to CTC direction with regards to product development, investigations, and corrective actions

Qualifications

? University degree in Engineering is a MUST, prefer major in electrical engineering or mechanical engineering
? Sound knowledge in the Canadian safety Standard
? At least 5 years practical working experience in product development, engineering or quality control at a Retail or Consumer Product organization
? Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Mandarin required
? Ability to be self-reliant and work independently
? Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
? Product knowledge relevant to power tools, furniture, home appliances, sporting goods or automotive accessories is a definite plus
? Proven technical acumen demonstrated within a manufacturing, quality or consumer products environment
? Frequent travel is required
