Purpose of Role:
Initiates, develops and coordinates effective design solutions for all customer materials at a senior level. Uses computer-based applications to produce graphic materials based on these designs
Key Responsibilities:
¨ Prepares preliminary designs/sketches for concept/proposal and recommends modifications as appropriate
¨ Create, design, and specify a wide variety of clearly illustrated graphics into final designs and production (4-color and black and white)
¨ Responsible for scanning and photo/image manipulation using 4-color process and pantone specifications.
¨ Complete projects in accordance with pre-negotiated time constraints and deadlines. Assist in coordinating production deadlines, including liaison efforts with film and print vendors
¨ Log all assigned tasks in the job tracking software
¨ Follow through with clients and outside vendors as required. Keep manager updated on project status as needed
¨ Remain current in new graphic design trends, including hardware and software advances. Evaluate new techniques and recommend alternatives to improve materials, to maximize impact and remain cost competitive. Assist with hardware and technical support for all users
¨ Supervise printers to ensure high quality prints within budgetary and equipment constraints
¨ Ensure proper handling of electronic images for layouts
¨ Cross -application assistance with team members for complex/special projects
¨ Provide guidance to graphics staff by sharing advanced technical knowledge and preparing guidelines and procedures for efficient production as needed
Essential skills:
¨ Degree in Art, Design, Advertising or related field preferred.
¨ Minimum of 4-5 years experience with extensive work in Graphic Design, Visual Communications or Electronic Layout
¨ Advanced experience with of Adobe CS and Adobe Acrobat in addition to a general understanding of hardware. Software focus may change depending on site/customer requirements
¨ A thorough knowledge of design, typography, printing processes and techniques are required
¨ Ability to work on PCs
¨ Proven layout and design capabilities at advanced level
¨ Proven ability to organize complex source material into coherent end results
Person competencies:
¨ Experience and understanding of photography, pre-press requirements for building electronic files, and an extensive working knowledge of commercial print production
¨ Ability to work on multiple projects and organize workload to meet deadlines.
¨ Must be able to work with associates/clients at all levels in addition to having an excellent customer service focus
¨ Ability to communicate creative thoughts and ideas related to clients work and organizational goals
¨ Proven customer service skills required in order to create, maintain and enhance customer relationships
¨ Must be able to communicate and interact effectively with multi-functional and diverse backgrounds
