Essential Functions (Responsibilities):

Momentive Performance Materials has an opportunity at its R&D laboratory in Shanghai, China for an experienced Analytical Chemist to provide technical solutions and support within our Analytical department. Specific responsibilities include:
· Hands-on sample analysis, methods development and troubleshooting for new and existing product platforms in support of internal and external customers including Research & Development, Manufacturing, Site Quality and Sales & Marketing for the global business
· Demonstrated expertise in Analytical Chemistry using chromatography (GC, GC/MS, GPC, HPLC) instrumentation for the analysis of small molecules and polymers of interest to Momentive
· Analytical skill such as thermal analysis technologies (TGA, DSC), microscopy (SEM, OPM), element analysis or IR spectroscopy is preferred
· Effective management of multiple projects, ensuring clear alignment of goals and deliverables with business needs
· Self-motivated individual with high level of technical curiosity and demonstrated ability to solve complex analytical problems
· The individual must have demonstrated the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment and move projects to completion in a time-critical setting
· Clear communication and reporting of laboratory activities to the customer and business leadership; collaboration with Momentive colleagues at other global sites


Qualifications/Requirements:
· Master or Doctorate in Analytical Chemistry, Materials Science, Polymer Science, or equivalent
· Significant experience in chromatography analysis on polymers
· 3 or more years of pertinent experience in Analytical Chemistry with a focus on GC, GC/MS, GPC and HPLC analysis
· Familiarity with standard laboratory techniques, including structural characterization and related analytical techniques with a strong emphasis on sample preparation and data analysis, analytical instrument operation and maintenance
· Working knowledge of PC applications (word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, etc.)
· Quick learner with excellent ability to learn new knowledge and technologies and be willing to cross-train into other Analytical areas
· Demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously and work in a global cross-functional team environment
· Proactive and self-motivated team player with good interpersonal communication
· Excellent oral and written communications skills in English
Desired:
· Familiarity with silicones and silanes technology and applications would be a plus
