Job Description

Function of the Position:

This is a supervisory position for which the incumbent is responsible for assessing and reviewing the development

and validation of analytical methods, procedures, and new technologies in support of revisions to the monographs,

in the area of chemical medicines, foods, dietary supplements and Excipients.

The lab is core to progress in modernization of existing, outdated, or inadequate monographs across all of the USP compendia.

Roles and responsibilities

• Provide scientific and professional inputs to scientists working in the areas of Analytical R&D for monograph creation,

and modernization of existing, outdated, or inadequate monographs across all of the USP compendia

• Actively communicate with USP HQ to establish and monitor priorities consistent with the organization’s priorities

• Plan, execute and complete the projects within timelines by allocating adequate resources

• Coordinate sample procurements and ensure readiness for projects to start and complete

• Manage and track departmental day-to-day activities including project assignments, deliverables and outputs

• Ensure the projects requirements by reviewing and coordinating with related departments

• Review protocols, reports and other relevant documents

• Identify the training needs and prepare technical training modules to ensure team productivity and quality requirements

• Keep abreast of the latest analytical technology as applied in industry

• Teach USP Pharmacopeial Education courses as appropriate

Minimum Requirements:

• Ph.D. degree in Chemistry or related disciplines with 5 years of experience, or Master degree in Chemistry or related disciplines with 8 years of experience

• Minimum 3years of supervisory experience

• Must be familiar with GMP and/or ISO9001 environment

• Must have hands-on experiment with analytical method development and validation

• Track record of trouble shooting capability

• Demonstrate solid scientific background

• Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously

• Demonstrated ability to interact professionally and effectively with senior management, peers, team members, supervisors, outside customers, and other teams/departments on an ongoing basis.

• Must be able to delegate and empower direct report(s) to execute objectives and deliverables

• Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to present technical information to multi-disciplinary groups in both Chinese and English.
