Summary


Provides process engineering and design support for battery electrode manufacturing and processing to the Stored Energy Technology Team. Analyzes proposal requests and provides equipment sizing, preliminary system design, and assists in written equipment description for the proposals sent to customers. Serves as a technical liaison with R&D, engineering, manufacturing and sales. Acts as a resource person in pre and post sales situations which require technical expertise.



Essential Functions:


Provide working knowledge in support of R&D, Engineering, Sales, and Markets department efforts of Battery Processes, Manufacturing and Equipment, particularly for the manufacturing and processing of cathode and anode electrode materials for Lithium Ion Batteries.


Works with Sales to generate proposals for equipment and services related to the manufacture of Lithium Ion Battery materials. Reviews information for scope, completeness and technical feasibility. Selects major components and preliminary system design.


Reviews and customer specifications to prepare cost estimates of proposed equipment. Proposes changes in equipment, processes or use of materials, which would result in cost reductions or improvements in operations.


Engineering interface. Convey proposal requirements for layouts, electrical and mechanical design to engineering. Attend meetings after sales to relay all information to production engineering.


Customer relations. Provides technical support to customers relating to use, operation and basic maintenance of equipment.


Assist with process and equipment start-up, evaluations and compliance testing at customer sites.



Secondary Functions:
· Travel with salesmen to provide technical support.


Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:


· Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related field.
· 5-10 Years related experiences (Engineering and R&D support for Lithium Ion Battery Electrode Production);
· Knowledge of Coating; Drying; Web Handling; Calendaring; and Slitting Operations; for the Production of Battery Electrode materials
· Working knowledge of MS Office and other pertinent software.


Communication/Language Abilities:


Must have ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups including top management, customers, and peers.


Communicates in a professional manner at all times.

Frequent interaction with customers, sales personnel and engineering requires ability to communicate professionally with various and diverse audiences.



Math Ability:
Ability to comprehend and apply principles of calculus, modern algebra and statistical theory. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, etc.


Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
