MEGTEC Systems is seeking a qualified Distillation Field Engineer to support solvent recovery projects within our Environment, Climate, and Energy group. This individual will play a critical role in executing large scale projects and providing pre-sale application support.


Essential Job Functions:

The Field Engineer will have extensive interaction with our customer base, sales personnel, project managers, and manufacturing personnel to provide technical support on our solvent recovery systems. Specific responsibilities include:

· Start-up of distillation columns including:
o Electrical and mechanical equipment checkout
o Inspecting, repairing or replacing components as necessary
o PLC Program checkout and modifications
o HMI Program checkout and modifications
o Tuning PID control loops
o Monitoring system for proper operation and working with process engineers to address issues observed in the field.
o Collection of samples for analysis.
· Collection of field operating data and troubleshooting of distillation columns
· Directly working with customers in a professional manner.


Qualifications:

· Mechanical or Electrical background; 3 years of experience with Distillation Systems.
· Working knowledge of English language (verbal and written)\
· 2+ years experience with Mitsubishi iQWorks software, specifically
o Melsoft Navigator
o GX Works2 -PLC Programming software
o GT Works3 - HMI programming software
· A working knowledge of and an understanding of the theory of distillation both of 'stripping' columns and 'dehydration' columns.
· A good understanding of system utilities; Steam and condensate, chilled water and cooling water, compressed air and how they operate and are controlled.
· An understanding of the operation of process heat exchangers and their impact on distillation column performance
· A very good understanding of motor controls.
· A good understanding of instrumentation; flow, pressure and level.
· A good understanding of instrumentation & PLC networks; Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet, Profinet, Control Net, etc,
· A very good knowledge of Allen Bradley Logix 5000 platforms, Seimens S7-1200 and S7-300 platforms and their programming with practical experience in PID control loops; implementation, tuning, etc.
· A knowledge of Human Machine Interface units (HMI's), Allen Bradley, Seimens, Red Lion, etc.
· A knowledge of process analysis systems and an ability to interpret analytical results to improve column performance.
· The ability to troubleshoot and determine the root cause of, sometimes very elusive, problems leading to a systems poor performance.
