RESPONSIBILITY
Position reports to Instrument Lead and/or Facilities Engineering Manager.
Responsible for both independent work and contractor oversight on Instrument engineering design works (including control and instrumentation).
Stewards instrumentation engineering aspects of the project with other discipline leads on the PMT, as necessary.
Ensures that the Project's requirements, as detailed in the Technical Specifications for all instrument engineering, are carried out faithfully and in a timely fashion.
Stewards the interfaces among the PMT, MICC organization, and the EPC contractor's organization with respect to instrumentation to ensure quality and minimize change orders.
Position requires flexibility with respect to domestic and international travel. Position may require relocation for international project assignments.

COMPETENCIES:
Thorough and extensive knowledge of Instrumentation engineering principles, theories, and concepts Applicable codes, standards, and trade practices.
Thorough knowledge and expert judgment in the selection and application of Instrumentation hardware and software solutions.
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology12+ years of closely related professional engineering experience, 5+ years of which should be at the Lead Instrument Engineer level on an Upstream project in the Oil & Gas Industry Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software programs, Lotus Notes, etc.
Read, write, and speak fluent English, especially as it applies to technical communications ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequent changes in priorities, while acting within a team environment.
Expectation is for a rapid comprehension of ExxonMobil Engineering Practices
Instrument and Electrical Discipline with 10-12 years experience in Power/ Steel/ oil Refinery experience

RESPONSIBILITY
To review the assignment instruction for adequacy and practicality.

To attend pre-production and other meetings as required.

To liaise with clients, and others as relevant, in the determination of inspection stages and requirements.

To provide as required technical input into quotations.

To visit manufacturers, suppliers, installers and others as necessary to perform or witness the requisite inspections.

To provide in good time all required reports of the inspections performed / witnessed.

To ensure all inspection and related activities in which involved are performed in accordance with requirements as defined in MI work instructions and procedures.



Basic Competence Criteria


A minimum of 5 years employed by manufacturer(s) or constructor(s) of the type of products or materials to be inspected. Such employment to be in all area of such organisations in which knowledge of the manufacturing, inspection and related processes would be gained.

Educational qualifications in relevant disciplines (one or more of the following:

University degree

National Higher Education

Chartered Engineer

City & Guilds

In the absence of such qualifications the experience criteria shall be increased to 10 years.

For field inspectors involved in the inspection of welded fabrications the following qualifications are preferred :

European Welding Engineer or National equivalent

CSWIP / PCN / ASNT qualifications as relevant
