Description of the role: Strength Calculation within allocated Contracts

Key tasks:

Design

Verify steel structure weights.

Calculations of loads into ship structures for stiffening of hinges, securing devices etc.

Calculation of dynamic and sea loading on steel and ship structures.

Shock calculations on steel structures for Navy contracts.

Calculations according to land codes for passenger gangways and linkspans.

Special calculations such as buckling and fatigue calculations, if necessary.

Establish strength criteria’s for all individual items

Create calculation checklist for each individual item in cooperation with item responsible

Define loadcases for primary structure and load carrying fittings in cooperation with item responsible

Ensure calculations are carried out in accordance with Classification Society and National Authority Rules.

Heavy load calculations on existing structures.

May be involved at tendering stage for special projects.

Offer advice to subcontract design teams.

Check sub contract design team calculations when required.

Collate and archive calculations.

Contract Activity

Support DR and DL with all deviations from contract with technical or commercial impact.

Attending design review meetings

Requirements:
Four year university degree in technical areas, Master degree in Mechanics and related discipline preferred;

5+ years of experience in the similar positions, shipbuilding and ship equipment industry prefered, RORO wxperience is the best;
Very strong techniques in Structural and Strenth Calculations; Special calculation in FEM, Shock, hydrodynamic and fatigue;

Familiar with related Rules and Regulations;

Be able to use NASTRAN, Nauticus 3D Beam, Staad 3D, Mathlab

Good teamwork,commincation, interpersonal and infuence skills;
Good English, both written and speaking;
