DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Department
The vision of Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) is to significantly increase model line profits with the provision of high performance vehicles and specialised features.

Key strategy elements include :
1. Push the boundaries of the Brands to create Niche “Halo” sports & luxury products
2. Enhance premium customer experience through vehicle personalisation and exclusivity
3. Provide track built client derivatives
4. Design and develop a highly profitable range of vehicles across all Brands

The role:
To support these objectives there is a requirement to appoint an SVO accessory engineer to develop;
1. New versions of existing accessories from concept to launch, working with suppliers to ensure they understand the requirements of quality and test.
2. New accessories where opportunities arise.
3. credit control functions.

Key Responsibilities;
1. Act as the Engineering Lead to co-ordinate the design & development of accessories from initial concept design through to Job 1 implementation. This will include direction of CAD engineers, supplier interaction, design reviews and in-plant support.
2. Liaison with the SVO head office in the UK.
3. Project management of designs, ensuring timely releases for virtual series gateways and Tooling / Production releases, using appropriate resources.
4. Managing and controlling component costs and supplier delivery cost-change tracking
5. The key contact for specific accessories
6. Flexible in work approach, able to work on and lead a varying degree of JLR accessory programmes / projects if required
7. Responsible for generation of / contributing to:-
-1. Component timing plans
-2. DFMEA's ( Failure mode avoidance)
-3. RMDV ( Test planning )
-4. AIMS Resolution ( Problem reporting and resolution)
-5. Engineering Release
-6. PACN Submissions (Product change documentation )
-7. Cost Packs, Statements of Work, Support purchase with RFQ's etc.
8. Manage the resolution of quality issues identified by internal and external indicators:
-1. Things gone wrong (TGW )
-2. JD Powers market reliability survey
- 3. Product Audits (FCPA)
Ensuring that Design Rules, Lessons Learnt and Warranty History are incorporated in all future designs.


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE / POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Degree in Engineering or comparable qualification.
2. Excellent language skills both Chinese and English
3. Excellent level of knowledge of engineering, testing and processes
4. Experience in accessory / component delivery preferred.
5. Knowledge of CAD / Digi-Buck / Vis-Mock-up
6. Experience of problem solving tools, FMEA, Robustness, etc. Able to lead problem resolution initiatives.
7. Good communication and presentation skills to all levels - essential
8. Data analysis and PC skills including Excel, Word, Powerpoint - essential
9. Experienced in WERS, AIMs, RMDV, APQP and PSW ( or similar ) processes.
10. Good team player/ leader, who is self-motivated to deliver good quality products - essential
