Mission Statement

Roles
? Provides technical expertise to business areas in understanding the data architecture
? Reviews and analyzes the reporting environment to make recommendations for improvements and/or upgrades
? Provides business requirements definition activities and translate them into logical and physical database designs
? Leverage knowledge of current software development methodologies to contribute to the overall planning of projects by recommending approaches, identifying resources, and developing timelines
? Works with Arch / QA / BSA to establish unit test criteria
? Ensures the practice of code guidelines and best practices
? Establishes and validates constructed code against unit test criteria
? Participates in projects through the various phases
? While in QA phase, makes corrections to code, and updates comments/design docs to reflect changes
? Provides post production support

Responsibilities
? Design and develop reporting models to meet business requirements
? Create ad hoc queries to support business decisions
? Create Stored Procedures, Data Transformation Services (DTS) and/or SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages to Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) data from transaction systems into the reporting environment
? Support and maintenance of the reporting and data warehouse environments
? Contributes to matrix teams designing and developing reporting and data warehouse solutions
? Prepares and maintains complete programming specifications, functional design, and both high and detail level technical design documents
? Conducts code and security code reviews
? Create deployment scripts
? Performs troubleshooting and analysis to assess root cause of reporting and data warehouse issues
? Maintains a high degree of knowledge on current technologies and tools
? Makes recommendations to improve operating efficiency and functionality of assigned systems areas

Duties
Under general direction, participates in the construction, implementation and support of software products that meet established specifications, design criteria, quality standards and business requirements. Responsible for designing reporting solutions based upon business requirements documentation and architectural designs.

Qualifications
? 4+ years overall software and/or application development experience performing data analyst tasks
? 3+ years experience with knowledge of T-SQL and Stored Procedures, Data Transformation Services (DTS) using Microsoft SQL Server
? 3+ years experience with managing large volumes of data, extraction of data from SQL Server tables
? Strong understanding of theoretical and practical aspects of decision support system design (ETL, Architecture, Metadata, Data Access, etc.)
? Ability to work with less experienced developers to help guide them
? Ability to work well in a team environment and brainstorm with other developers/senior developers on ideas, work flow and technologies
? Strong technical, logical, analytical, and problem solving skills
? Strong communication / technical writing skills
? Experience in software lifecycles, software configuration management and change control
? Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop cohesive working relationships with internal and external clients
? Ability to manage multiple deliverables in a highly energized and fast-paced environment within a framework of constantly shifting deadlines and deliverables
? Flexibility to adapt to change and willing to learn and develop new skill sets as applicable
? B.S. degree in Computer Science or related field
