Major Responsibilities
- Carry out project work and technical investigations in support of raw material, post mortem and product development analytical requests.
- Responsible for carrying out laboratory analysis using a range of analytical techniques.
- Data interpretation and preparation of technical reports.
- Develop an in-depth knowledge/high level of expertise in a nominated analytical technique (all necessary training provided).
- Responsible for setting up new analytical methods as and when required.
- Identification of suitable third-party laboratories in the event of there being limitations to in-house analytical methods.
- Responsible for continuous improvement projects.
- Assist with Round Robin exercises between JM laboratories worldwide.
- Assist with equipment maintenance activities.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required

- Educated to degree level or above in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry or equivalent.
- At least 1-2 years working experience in a laboratory environment following university.
- Able to demonstrate prior experience in the use of a wide range of analytical techniques.
- Able to work to tight deadlines and targets whilst demonstrating an excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent understanding of environmental, health and safety issues.
- Good command of English language (verbal and written)

Desirable
- Knowledge of catalyst theory and application.
- In-depth knowledge of any of the following analytical techniques: XRD, SEM, TPR, TPD, Chemisorption & Physisorption techniques.
