DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Responsibility for every engineering aspect during localization projects in China and in Asia along the nomination and product development process for chassis and suspension systems and components.
2. Local supplier qualification from an engineering aspect and build-up of a qualified supplier pool in Asia for chassis systems and components.
3. Support of managers and expats in any technical question, ensure efficient communication of technical issues and support discussions with and at local suppliers.
4. Planning, execution and documentation of technical evaluation of suppliers and sub-suppliers, of their R&D capabilities and of current technology know-how.
5. Market analysis and market screening for local suppliers in China and Asia in cooperation with the purchasing, quality and logistic department."
6. Planning, execution and documentation of on site evaluation of test facilities (test benches and test equipment) at suppliers and sub-suppliers.
7. Planning, execution and documentation of on site evaluation of series production, assembly lines and prototype manufacturing facilities at suppliers.
8. Monitoring of timing plan and validation schedules. Interpretation and assessment of development progress and test results from suppliers. Assess and evaluate development steps, take corrective action if necessary.
9. Local support for the SE teams in Munich and China incl. technical changes and China specific part validation.
10. "Self-reliant preparation and documentation of reports incl. evaluations and conclusions for process partners in quality and purchasing department.
11. Support of the purchasing department in the selection of suppliers and the conception of contracts.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE / POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Knowledge about automotive technology, vehicle dynamics and chassis systems
2. Communication skills
3. Several years of professional experience in the automotive industry with thorough training, knowledge and skills about vehicle engineering and driving dynamics.
