Reports to: SQD Manager

Role purposes:
Assist in the supplier selection and sourcing decisions by identifying their capability and once engage will monitor and develop suppliers to improve their performance and contribute to company quality and financial objectives

Responsibilities:
1. Support the development of a supplier development strategy to determine supplier impact criteria and action plans
2. Determine stakeholders and responsibilities in managing supplier performance
3. Provide input into the supplier selection / sourcing process
4. Analyse supplier performance and determine actions for development and/ or improvement to achieve product quality within target time
5. Assist in supplier selection and sourcing decisions, participate in the sourcing committee and provide feedback to various business units on supplier performance
6. Complete audit of suppliers to ensure they are able to support the business as per quotation
7. Advise business units on supplier development related issues
8. Act as the voice of a supplier within the business to ensure effective communication of technical data is achieved
9. Address supplier quality / delivery concerns in conjunction with operations, procurement and engineering
10. Ensure design quality by active participation in the design process
11. Maintain positive working relationships with suppliers,
12. Other reasonable works assigned by the manager

Qualifications
1. At least bachelor in Mechanical/Design Engineering or relevant discipline
2. Desirable: master in Engineering/Industrial Design

Experience
1. 3 years experience in a similar role
2. Preferred Automotive industry experience
3. Proven experience in building and maintaining client, customer and supplier relations
4. Ability to influence and negotiate in small to medium environments
5. Detailed knowledge of automotive certification standards and auditing experience
6. Experience in dealing with and engineering for manufacturing environments
7. Experience in dealing with suppliers - building relationships and delivering outcomes

Skills & Knowledge
1. Understanding of automotive lean manufacturing systems and principles (i.e. TS16949, APQP, 5S, TPS)
2. An understanding of supplier verification and statistical analysis
3. The ability to work autonomously and be flexible in their approach
4. Intermediate computer skills with MS Office Suite
5. Knowledge of design processes (DFMEA, DVP&R etc)
6. Knowledge of automated and manual assembly and design/engineering constraints applicable
7. Skills & knowledge in problem solving including engineering from 1st principals
8. Basic project management skills - time/quality/cost tradeoffs and their prioritisation
9. Effective written and verbal communication skills
