Summary:
A renowned consumer brand is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to be a part of a team responsible for planning and executing the integration of Internet based products and services.
This role is based in Shanghai and reports to the Global Systems Engineering Manager.
Primary responsibilities include implementation and support for internet based solutions developed for these business units. This includes any content delivery systems, hardware configuration, custom software implementation, database administration, network and systems design, performance and process improvement as well as systems documentation.
Typical projects would include new business unit initiatives and updates to existing products and services that require planning, incredible attention to detail and flawless execution.

Key responsibilities:

- responsible for planning and executing small-to-medium scale projects within the technical operations team
- execute day to day maintenance tasks including problem determination and resolution as well as root-cause analysis
- responsible for responding to live site issues and for executing software, platform and configuration changes
- provide and maintain documentation of systems architecture, troubleshooting and support guidelines, system metrics, project information including plans
- ensure the use of performance data and historical metrics to effectively plan for growth needs, plan upgrades, migrations and optimisations, new implementations
- identify and resolve efficiency issues as well as improve functionality, apply scripting automation for repetitive tasks
- provide support for integration testing, system testing and load testing prior to the final release of new and upgraded products as well as services
- participate in the development of best practices including capacity planning, monitoring, configuration, security, historical metrics, - recovery strategies and migration strategies
- responsible for validation of and adherence to these defined standards
- author, deploy and maintain system, web site including application configuration management code as well asconfiguration; development of CI pipeline workflow

Key requirements:
- bi-lingual; Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese) and English required
- proficient in systems management and application deployment automation through authoring and maintenance of Ruby, Python, Perl, including shell scripting as well as experience in implementing and maintaining enterprise configuration management solutions such as Chef
- experience in continuous integration pipeline development and support in using tools like Bamboo will be essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent (Computer Information Systems)
- minimum seven years' experience supporting and/or deploying internet-based products or services
- advanced shell scripting skills
- intermediate to advanced Python, Ruby, and or JAVA programming skills
- experience in web application development platforms, tools and utilities including JSP, ASP, PHP, Javascript as well as Flash
- proficient in authoring and managing configuration management frameworks such as Chef, Puppet, CFEngine
- expertise in managing and configuring multiple enterprise operating systems including Microsoft Windows and Linux
- experience in managing site content and configuration via CDN providers such as Akamai, Limelight, Level 3 as well as others
- experience in managing multiple hosting environments including public and private cloud solutions
- expertise in configuration and management of multiple web server platforms including but not limited to Apache Traffic Server, - Couchbase/Memcached, Tomcat, Apache, PHP, Zend
