Job Title: Buyer
Department: International Purchasing Department
Reports To: Sourcing Supervisor
Work Location: Shanghai
SUMMARY
To Coordinate Procurement activities in China with the goal identified, develop and manage Chinese suppliers, develop long term relationships with world class suppliers capable of meeting comany's requirements. The procurement focus will be on Total Cost including quality, logistics and price.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Select supplier and help develop Supplier Selection Criteria and Strategy.
· Project purchasing responsibility. Be responsible for flawless launch of new projects. Implement aggressive sourcing and supplier quality processes to drive project implementation,
· Commodity sourcing responsibility. Help develop and implement global sourcing strategies by commodities. Oversees all activities related to procurement of a commodity, from intent to purchase through delivery of commodity.
· Ensure Commodity Overviews are maintained completely and accurately
· Help establish negotiation strategy. Help develop a system to evaluate vendor quotations that utilizes appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques to ensure quality, price, delivery, and service.
· Achieve annual cost reduction objectives Ensure appropriate detailed cost analysis and negotiations are performed to achieve best value
· Prepare and review contracts, bids, proposals, and vendor agreements for legal correctness, price, and acceptability of items to specifications.
· Analyzes market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability and prepares market analysis reports.
· Key interface with Engineering and drives Early Supplier Involvement activities.
· Reviews prospective supplier facilities to determine their eligibility to supply to the company.
· Conduct periodic market tests and follow through as appropriate to achieve cost reductions
· Perform supplier capacity reviews to determine potential supplier constraints and establish actions as appropriate to eliminate them
· Provide Monthly Report identifying major issues and progress against major objectives
· Be able to work flexible hours when required to complete tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
· Bachelor Degree with at least 4 years automotive purchasing experience.
· Understanding of Automotive quality systems
· Proven track record for achieving cost reductions
· Strong cost analysis and negotiation skills
· Familiarity dealing with multiple currencies
· Must be well experienced in Microsoft Office software including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Fluent English and Chinese. Be able to conduct global tele-conference.
