The Company:
B5M, “help me buy” in Chinese, is the most comprehensive, accurate, and unbiased Chinese shopping search portal across multiple vertical categories. It offers hundreds of millions of business-to-consumer products, product and merchant reviews, group-buy deals, discount products, and shopping-related web articles, and it’s innovative shopping community features help Chinese consumers make informed purchasing decisions. B5M, founded in 2007, is headquartered in Shanghai with offices in Beijing and Hangzhou. The company also operates its own advertisement network to deliver hundreds of millions of clicks daily from hundreds of premier media sites as well as B5M.com to thousands of E-commerce websites and other advertisers.
The company has raised Series A round of $7M, led by Oak Investment Partners, in Feb 2012, and Series B round of $16M, led by ClearVue Partners, in Apr 2013. The company has over 10M UV a day through the company’s website, browser plugin, and mobile apps, and the traffic continues to rapidly increase.
The Opportunity:
B5M is looking to bring in passionate new Director of Strategy to help catapult the company into becoming one of the top ten most recognizable sites in China. The Director of Strategy will report directly with the CEO on the following near and long-term priorities:
? Work closely with the CEO to continuously evaluate new strategic opportunities and translate this into actionable tactical plans for various departments. Build financial forecasts to quantitatively compare these strategies and integrate into the larger B5M plan.
? Work intimately with product and marketing teams help execute tactical plans. Help each department set metrics and support them in achieving their milestones.
? As B5M grows rapidly, help build an organizational structure that is aligned with achieving the company’s long-term objectives and that continues to cultivate the company’s collaborative culture.
? Assist CEO with future rounds of fund raisings and IPO.
The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the perfect combination of strategic thinking, quantitative savviness and crisp execution. This candidate must be intellectually curious, enjoy thinking about business model innovation, and have the tenacity to follow through on projects with potentially long lead times.
Candidate will also have superior leadership, organizational and communication skills to make sure that various departments are on track with their near and long term milestones
The candidate should embody B5M’s core values of accountability, ownership, entrepreneurial spirit and teamwork.
Qualifications:
? MBA or 5+ years of equivalent work experience in product, strategy, finance or consulting.
? Degree from a top undergraduate institution.
? Prior work at an ecommerce startup.
? Fluency in Chinese and English.
? Comfort with excel modeling.
? Experience and aptitude for public speech.
