Aviation Avionics and Digital Systems

Role Summary/Purpose

The staff engineer works consistently in practical and innovative ways towards defined goals. In this role you will be responsible for civil avionics system development through full life cycle development. Utilising your experience and expertise you will conduct and guide avionics system requirements development, integration and verification/validation activities, solving complex problems both defined and less defined in scope.

Essential Responsibilities

• Guide teams responsible for the execution of avionics systems development using sound engineering principles and adhering to industry and company avionics standards, practices, procedures, and product / system requirements.
• Recommend approaches to meet technical, project and business objectives.
• Demonstrate accountability for individual assigned work area in addition to supporting the assigned project technical teams and the wider organisation.
• Develop and implement action plans to anticipate and respond to problems.
• Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
• Provides guidance, coaching, and technical direction within the organisation with the view to the longer term development of the company capability.
• Demonstrate integrity and compliance throughout all work activities.
• Assist in the formulation and implementation of plans to achieve technical requirements, estimate budgets and track costs of projects.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Master degree from an accredited university or college (or a Bachelor degree with an additional 5 years professional experience).
• Minimum of 15 years of proven experience within related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of civil avionics system experience.
• Experiences with ARP4754A, DO-4761, DO-297.
• Experience in aircraft level requirements definition, requirements allocation, requirements management, systems integration, verification and certification
• Experiences with Integrated Modular Avionics(IMA) Platform, ARINC653, ARINC664, ARINC429, and related aviation standards
• Proven ability to execute and influence within a matrix organisation
• Proven ability to work in a cross-functional, multi-cultural environment
• Proven ability to develop teams and mentor others
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

Desired Characteristics

• Proven record of successful development project execution
• Aircraft Systems engineering experience with a FAR Part 25 or FAR Part 23 aircraft
• Ability to understand and implement customer and aviation standards
• Project scheduling and budget estimation experience
• Capable of using modeling and simulation tools to model and validate complex systems solutions.
• Six Sigma training
• English and Chinese language fluency is highly desirable
