Playfish (a division of Electronic Arts) is looking for developers, senior developers, and lead developers to join its server team. Our challenge is to build systems to support more than 50 million players every month -- 10 million a day. We already have a team of some of the brightest and friendliest people you'll ever work with, but we don't have the answers for everything. We hope you can help with that!

What you might do on a day at Playfish:

Create a new game feature that will go live and be used by millions of players within a week
Contribute your ideas to a new game prototype in development, whilst learning from some of the world's best game designers
Design a new service & corresponding service contract to minimize remote communications
Debate over coffee with your colleagues the relative merits of RPC vs. messaging-based communication, or the appropriate use of IoC and aspects
Insure high quality code and enforce good practices (Unit test, code review, pair-programming) across the team in an agile environment
Cooperate with Design, QA, producer and Operation team

We are looking for:

Experience developing large or complex server systems in Java, with or without application servers
Strong object-oriented design skills and passion for agile test-driven development and continuous integration
Good understanding of RDBMSes, SQL, and Unix-like systems
Interest in (or knowledge of!) cutting-edge technologies and techniques such as AWS, non-RDBMS data stores, SOA, messaging / EDA, REST
Computer science or related degree or equivalent experience

Work Experience and Education:

Good English communication skills, reading/writing/speaking
5+ years of server side development experience. Previous experience in online gaming company is a plus.
2+ years developing with server side Java including JSP, Servlets, HTML, CSS, and Javascript
2+ years experience with MySQL or Postgres and understand database tuning.
Comfortable working under Linux
Versatile and be able to build a server system from scratch including:
Understand fundamental of server architecture and be able to develop a custom server in Java
