Position Overview

Support PMI developing and coordinating new strategic product design in all phases of Product Development from concept inception to manufacturing in order to support our growing market’s requirements. Contribute to a culture of innovation and creativity as part of an expanding global team of designers.

Responsibilities

1. Create and develop innovative product design concepts along with packaging with considerations on human ergonomics, branding, development methods, material usage and costing
2. Facilitate improvement of existing designs in aesthetics and usability to cater to new and expanding markets
3. Create concept sketches, 3-D renderings, 2-D CAD production drawings and other graphic materials as required.
4. Devise product design performance and production criteria with appropriate product testing for performance standards
5. Initiate and perform trend, market and competitive research
6. Constantly collect trend information and new color ideas through market walk and web search, and share seasonal knowledge within team.
7. Highly flexible and good understanding of commercial operation cycle. Detailed oriented, good sense of meeting deadlines and able to manage multi-tasks.
8. Adhere to PMI policies and support Management decisions and goals in positive, professional manner.
Additional Responsibilities

1. An Industrial Designer reports to the Director of Creative Development and will respond to briefs set by the DCD and product managers.
2. Perform other duties as assigned.

Proficiencies

1. Strong hand drawing design skills, professional industrial design related skills.
2. Understanding of global designs trends with insight into the Asian market and consumer needs.
3. Highly creative and collaborative with the ability to work as part of a dynamic team.
4. Ability to understand and engage with global and local brands to deliver appropriate design solutions.
5. Solid word processing and computer database skills with knowledge of Solid Works, CAD, 3ds Max and Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
6. Good interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively lead and work with individuals and groups at all organization levels; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
7. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
8. Ability to balance a complex workload and prioritize tasks; good time-management, organizational, problem-prevention and problem-solving skills.
9. Ability to study and apply new information
10. Ability to work accurately with close attention to detail.
11. Good written and oral communication skills; with fluency in written and spoken English.


Education and Experience

1. Bachelor’s degree in Industrial/ Product Design or equivalent related experience.
2. 5+ years of experience in the category of drinkware, preferably with in-depth knowledge of stainless steel, plastic, glass and ceramics.
3. Experience of working with OEM and ODM suppliers or international brands is a plus.
4. Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing technology, mechanism and materials in evaluating the feasibility of production
5. Past experience in computerized modelling, testing and producing prototypes.
