SUMMARY
The Compressor Product Engineering Manager will work in the Taicang Product Engineering group and be responsible for the centrifugal and screw compressor product design in Taicang. Specifically this person will lead a compressor product engineering team to provide product design support for operations, manufacturing, supplier development, marketing, and field services technicians. In addition, this person and his team will be involved in development and implementation of product enhancements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Create solid plan to build up compressor product engineering team to be self-reliant
• Interact with cross-functional team to ensure proper compressor project planning and execution
• Work with related functional to understand requirement to centrifugal and screw compressor on cost, quality and performance and work out appropriate plan to improve continuously.
• Drive compressor material productivity through leading and managing compressor related VAVE events and projects
• Provide product design support for centrifugal and screw compressors.
• Assist in the qualification of new castings and materials for the centrifugal product.
• Conduct laboratory testing as required.
• Develop design solutions for compressor improvement projects.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3+ years experience on people management and development.
• Project management experience desired with a clear capability to lead project teams.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES REQUIRED
• Strong mechanical background with design process knowledge.
• Must be proficient in problem solving.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Hands on experience with mechanical devices preferred.
• Experience with the following area’s a positive:
• Electric motor application • Bearing design/application
• Materials • Oil/Lubrication systems
• Tolerance design (GD&T) • Statistical Analysis
• Manufacturing processes • Casting/Foundry Knowledge
• Must be personal computer literate within a Windows environment and proficient with Microsoft Office suite of products.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to operate computer keyboard and telephone. The employee frequently is required to walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
