Key Responsibilities:

? Hardware design, evaluation and qualification of all audio products and other electronic equipment at both system and board level.
? Design, build and test audio signal processing components/prototypes.
? Have solid expertise in and monitor the “state of the art” for next-generation audio concepts and industry trends.
? Develop new theatre sound system topology diagrams and schematics.
? Prepare and process Engineering Change Requests (ERC’s) and work with the Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) system.
? Component selection and Bill of Material generation targeted for manufacturing environment (Design for Manufacturing).
? System diagnostics and development of test fixtures (Design for Test).
? Prepare engineering/manufacturing documentation; schematics and design specifications, Bill of Materials (BOM’s), systems requirements and test plans.
? Support product regulatory and safety certification (Design for Compliance).
? Guidance of PCB projects through layout and fabrication.
? Support Software development team (integration control documents)
? Provide support to Manufacturing, Installation, Technical Services and Purchasing organizations.
? Support work and reviews on acoustics design and noise isolation.
? Support, maintain and upgrade existing theatre products.


Requirements:

? BS/MS in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in digital, analog and electronics design.
? Knowledge of speaker design and principles: driver and cross-over circuits with basic understanding of audio/acoustic principles and noise isolation.
? Experience with micro-controllers and/or DSP, audio hardware, PC architecture, firmware design, system design and communication standards (USB, Ethernet).
? Proficiency with electronic CAD tools.
? Experience with electronics design and simulation tools (such as Orcad).
? Experience working with PCB layout designers.
? Knowledge of PCB fabrication and assembly.
? Assembly programming experience
? Hands-on experience and familiarity with oscilloscope, bus analyzer and audio test equipment.
? Knowledge of electrical noise and grounding principles.
? Experience of developing and/ or working with high-end audio products
? Hands-on experience in taking a product from design and releasing it into manufacturing.
? Experience with ISO9001, CCC and continuous improvement concepts.

? Experience in design of analog and digital audio equipment as well audio systems.
? Understanding of high-quality multi-channel audio system and components.
? Familiarity with A-chain and B-chain components: sound playback sources, microphone, mixer, equalizer, DSP.
? Knowledge of DSP applications. Strong knowledge of audio DSP design and auto tuning algorithms is a major advantage.
? Design verification test experience at both the component and system level.
? Basic knowledge of; SMPTE, THX, DTS, AES/EBU, RS422, UL, CSA and CE.
? Knowledge of frequency domain techniques (FFT, wavelets)
? Experience with digital audio interfaces/formats ( SPDIF, HDMI, USAB, I2S, Dolby, DTS, MP3, AAC, PCM)
? Experience in tuning and installation of theatre auditorium and/ or studio level quality rooms is an asset.
? Knowledge of physical acoustics, small room acoustics and loudspeakers is an asset
? AV industry training is an asset: Syn Aud Con, AES, SMPTE.
? Familiarity with psychoacoustics concepts (localization, loudness perception)

Other Requirements:

? Utilize controlled documentation and knowledge of government standards and application guides, International Building Codes, and National Electrical Codes to complete site surveys at international locations.
? Develop specialized designs to include site and floor plans, riser diagrams, Bill of Materials, power/signal runs, schedules and details, and device schematics
? Determine the feasibility of utilizing standardized equipment and develop specifications with the capability of providing alternate solutions to unique engineering problems
? Design and study blueprints, schematics, manuals, wiring diagrams and other specifications to determine design and installation procedures
? Identify the strengths and weaknesses of multiple systems for the design; plan or modify designs to minimize waste of materials; design easy access for future maintenance and design with most mitigation

About TCL-IMAX

The company is invested by TCL and IMAX to design, manufacture, market and provide content for high end home theater systems.
