Brief Description

The Software Engineer demonstrates leadership in driving business goals, programs, and processes for the software segment. In this role you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others and have ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.

Primary Responsibilities

• Use technical expertise to resolve critical IMA platform issues related to software execution and the Systems-Software interface
• Ensure team compliance with essential processes including DO-178B, SAE ARP-4754, DO-297, and GE AVIC internal processes
• Develop and manage tasks to meet cost, schedule, scope, and deliverable goals
• Provide technical leadership and help establish technical direction for the team
• Support status reports and task metrics on a weekly basis
• Develop and maintain relationships with external and internal stakeholders to ensure that customer requirements are achieved and that development/design are compliant
• Establish, modify, and monitor overall requirements, timing, and resources for the team to meet and exceed business objectives and goals for the software and systems interface segment
• Effectively communicate technical and financial aspects of team activities vertically and horizontally in the organization
  

Qualifications Required

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science (or a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 10 years work experience in a technical role)
• Avionics software development, integration and/or verification lab experience
• Solid oral and written communication skills (English required)
  

Qualifications Desired

• IMA systems experience on the GE platform
• Knowledge of avionics standards such as DO-178B, DO-297, ARINC 653, ARINC 664, ARINC 429, ARINC 825
• Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills, with cross-functional experience
• Strong project management and decision making skills
• Strong ability to engage and build positive relationships with both customers and internal and external employees
