Job Description:

1. Work as a senior member of a project team to deliver on Actuarial projects as determined by requirements from the New York office and regional offices, with a focus on property casualty projects
2. Support Supervising Actuary with adhoc work as required
3. Perform data analyses, handling big data and performing subsequent calculations using appropriate software as required
4. Identify trends in data and/or produce financial projections as required - summarizing the results using tables, charts and graphs, ensuring accuracy and relevance
5. Build Actuarial models as required, for example in the areas of pricing, reserving, claims analyses, expense analyses, capital management
6. Carry out Business As Usual activities as required, for example reserving, reporting
7. Supervise and provide direction to junior members of the team as required
8. Produce high-quality documentation in relation to work involved in



Requirements:

Experience and Qualifications
1. University degree in mathematics, sciences, actuarial science, finance, computer science or similar numerically focused degree. High class ranking/GPA
2. Strong academic record
3. Preferred minimum of five-years experience in property casualty Actuarial work
4. Progress to date towards FCAS/FIA or equivalent Actuarial qualification, preferred minimum of FCAS preliminary stage exams + two later main exams completed/FIA core technical stage exams completed + two later main exams completed, or equivalent
Skills, Expertise and Interests
1. Strong mathematical and statistical ability
2. Strong computing ability, including an aptitude for and interest in computer programming
3. Advanced Excel skills
4. Advanced Excel VBA skills and/or advanced skills in other programming languages and willingness to learn VBA
5. Preferred knowledge of other relevant software including: SQL, Prophet, Moses, R, SAS, Access, PowerPoint
6. Experience with Igloo, ReMetrica or other stochastic modeling software an advantage
7. Experience with ResQ reserving software an advantage
8. Self-motivated with the ability to produce high-quality work with minimal supervision
9. Experience with supervision of junior colleagues
10. Project-based mindset, focused on delivering to deadlines at a high-level of quality
11. Strong oral and written communication skills in English is an essential requirement
12. Good interpersonal skills; ability to work with and contribute effectively to the project team
13. Good time management and organizational skills
14. Willingness to be flexible with working hours to meet deadlines when required
15. Be willing to schedule time and meet with team in New York during New York work hours to learn and communicate status of efforts responsible for
