BNET DUIB IP Routers PIDS Overview

The IP Product Introduction Deployment & Support (PIDS) organization is responsible for the Product Introduction, Deployment and Support of Smart Services Router (SSR), SmartEdge (SE), SSR/SE Element Manager (NetOp EMS), Smart Packet (SP) and SDN Controller products to the world wide Ericsson customer base. We are operating from San Jose (USA), Aachen (Germany), Bangalore (India) and Beijing (China).

The Beijing IP Routers PIDS Team is responsible for smooth introduction of the SSR and SE during FOA’s, China Bench Mark Tests (BMT) and further deployment to RNEA and other customers as well as participating in the Tier 2 activities for IP Routers with a focus on RNEA as well as the SP product.

We are looking for 4 Test engineers for both Tier 2 support and FOA/BMT/GPD on IP Routers in Beijing.

Responsibilities & Tasks

Tier 2 Support

· Secure smooth support of SmartEdge & Smart Services Router products in our customers' networks for various solution deployments (BRAS, L2/L3, MPBN, CPG/EPG).

· Handle Customer Solution Requests as part of the Tier2 organization in a Kanban ways of working environment.

· Participate actively in the 24/7 emergency on call support.

· Documents and performs customer problem reproduction and drives the process to a releasable product solution.

· Provide detailed root cause analysis reports on customer issues.

· Participate in and drive customer escalations.

· Support the Product Introduction and Global Product Deployment programs.

· Generate network configurations for end-to-end solutions in a Service Provider environment.

· Actively drive product and process improvements within and outside of the organization.

· Work in close collaboration with various customer units, field engineers, product line management, development engineers and test engineers during the support activities of SE/SSR products.

FOA/BMT/GPD

· Secure smooth and successful product introduction and deployment of SmartEdge (SE), Smart Service Router (SSR) to RNEA and other customer networks as part of Product Introduction (PI) and First Office Application (FOA) main mission.

· Involve in feasibility study of customer network software/hardware configuration and topology, traffic models, new and legacy features used.

· Participate in the preparation and implementation of securing technical competence within the team and various customer unit interfaces.

· Execute use-case in-house, submit trouble reports, perform rapid root-cause analysis on issues and verify fixes.

· Support the customer units and customers during the acceptance phase and when the product is positioned into live network.

· Support all activities that help bring the product ready for global deployment.

· Involve in the technical document review, configuration, troubleshooting and support of various Broadband Remote Access Service (BRAS) features, L2/L3 features and L4/L7 features that are supported in the SE/SSR products. This will also involve in-depth knowledge of various deployment models of network service providers. Identify feature gaps, limitations of SE/SSR to use as guidance to customer prior to first live network deployment.

· Involve in securing in-depth understanding of SE/SSR architecture and platform for smooth and successful external applications integration and provide effectively support.

· Work in close collaboration with various Customer Units, Field Engineers, Product Management, Development and Integration & Verification engineers within the internal and various external organizations.

· Expected to work effectively in a high-complex and fast-paced environment.


Required Skills

· Excellent communication skills in both English and Chinese, ability to interact with customers and internal stakeholders, and provide technical solutions.

· Solid understanding of service provider networks, internet network architecture and routing products.

· Understanding of Routing Protocols like BGP, OSPF, ISIS, MPLS & VPLS is a must.

· Understanding of Broad-band Remote Access Protocols like PPP, DHCP, AAA, RADIUS and Mobile Networks like GGSN/SGSN/LTE, CPG is a plus.

· Good knowledge of SE and SSR architecture and platform is desirable.

· Should have excellent network and routing product debugging skills.

· Should have strong platform debugging skills.

· Should have ability to provide rapid root-cause analysis of various customer issues.

· A fair bit of software code walk-through to narrow down problem root cause is desirable.

· Scripting skills in Perl and/or Expect is a definitely plus.

· 5-7 years of experience in testing and supporting routing products is preferred.

· Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or related discipline required.
