Job Description:

1. Assist in the maintenance of risk governance, policies, principles and standards for operational risk management within China branches

2. Assist in the implementation of relevant operational risk tools and methodologies including risk events reporting, control self assessment, key risk indicators, etc for the units to identify and assess key operational risks

3. Provide advice and guidance to the business/support units and branches on operational risk matters including risk management structure and processes, tailoring of Group policies, where applicable for adoption by location

4. Perform timely analysis with the consolidated risk and loss data collected at location entity level; prepare regular operational risk reports

5. Keep abreast of industry developments, and ensure the bank’s ORM processes are aligned with industry best practices

6. Promote risk and control awareness through training, sharing of best practices and lessons learnt

7. Liaise with RMG-Operational Risk, Singapore, to manage and maintain the system that enables regular risk analysis and reporting to senior management (via risk committees) and liaise with vendor and internal support parties

8. Perform regular review of CSAs complied by units within China branches to ensure that they are conducted in a quality and timely fashion, and that all control gaps identified are addressed with appropriate corrective actions.

9. Assist in performing business monitoring of related businesses and compiling detailed analysis of operational risk data (e.g. risk events, KRIs, etc.) and preparing the necessary reports to management.

10. Perform due diligence review of NPAs on new products/activities (including outsourcing activities) to ensure that all related operational risks are properly and adequately assessed with associated mitigating controls in place, and to follow up on timely completion of related PIRs.

11. Participate in the implementation of BASEL II Operational Risk related projects for the enhancement of the Bank’s Operational Risk Management processes.

12. Provide advisory supports to BU/SUs in operational risk related issues/matters.

Job Requirement:

Over 8 years of experience in financial institutions; should have working experience in Operational Risk Management and familiar with ORM concepts, policies, tools, MIS and reporting, and conversant in Basel requirements for operational risk

2. Excellent written and oral communication skills

3. Good project management skills

Technical Competencies

1. General knowledge of banking products/services, activities and operations across different businesses including commercial, consumer, private and investment banking

2. Analytical and able to identify potential operational risk exposures in business activities, and assess the appropriateness and adequacy of mitigating controls required

Work Relationship

1. Ability to work with business/support units in the rollout of various operational risk management processes

2. Must be a team player with ability to work professionally with team members and workgroups formed with other business/support units
