Job purpose:

Drive business growth and profitability through application technologies development and technical support in the pharmaceutical and fine chemical industries.

Work scope:

As a member of Praxair’s China R&D team, the candidate will be responsible for developing gas application technologies in the pharmaceutical and fine chemical industries and provide technical support to the business team. The candidate will work closely with the applications and sales organization, as well as the corporate R&D teams in the US, in developing credible business cases for new technology programs, actively participate in the technical development, and support Applications and Sales teams in implementing Praxair technologies in pharma and fine chemicals area.

Reporting relationships:

The person will directly report to China R&D Pharma team leader.


Key Responsibilities:

· Develop and commercialize gas application technologies in the pharmaceutical and fine chemical industries to meet business needs.
· Work with customers, sales and applications team and prioritize opportunities for new offerings.
· Develop creative and cost effective solutions that can be well integrated into customer’s operation.
· Work at lab, pilot and full commercial scales to develop new offerings.
· Finalize the design of process and equipment. Install and conduct the startup at the customer locations.
· Take the technical lead to migrate programs from other regions to meet the local market needs
· Travel up to 25% of the time.


Education:
MS (preferably PhD) degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, or a related field.


Skills & Personal Attributes:
· 5+ years’ R&D or production experience in pharmaceutical, specialty chemicals, or rated industries
· Demonstrated skills in improving unit operations
· Good background in production process of pharmaceutical intermediates, fine chemical, and specialty chemicals.
· Experience with process and equipment design and equipment sizing and selection in pharmaceuticals and specialty chemicals industries will be a plus
· Self-directed individual with good interpersonal and communication skills
Able Able to speak, read, and write in English
