PRIMARY FUNCTION

Support the development and maintenance of tools and standards used in costing to facilitate quick and accurate estimates. Develop cost estimates for raw materials and finished products in development to assure viability prior to final vendor costing. Provide expertise and support to product engineering as needed to recommend alternatives that facilitate products achieving viable costs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• To implement annual and seasonal direction for costs and focuses for owned label apparel products
• Comparison Research - Work with Business Partners and Product Managers as directed
• Identify key metrics affecting costs to develop standards to be utilized in costing as appropriate
• Stay current on sourcing and manufacturing factors affecting fabrics, garment or components
• Establish structured cost parameters around primary and sub-level costing components, garment construction etc.
• Responsible for pre-costing large volume programs in conjunction with supply chain planning efforts
• Work in partnership with Fabric and Technical Design teams to guide viability of fabric and garment costs to goals
• Recommend alternative fabrics, components and construction to guide garment cost goals
• Communicate regularly and effectively with Business Partners to stay abreast of manufacturing cost factors

• Work specifically to develop and enhance pre-costing skill sets and competencies within Fabric, Trim and Technical Design functions

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• 4 year Degree in Engineering, Textiles, Business or similar/equivalent
• 5+ years experience in product engineering
• 5+ years experience in costing textiles or apparel, or activity based accounting methodology
• Experience with standard costing systems and usage
• Experience in costing of imported manufactured goods
