PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Responsible, as per training administered, work related to equipment repairs and changeovers, preventative maintenance activities, corrective troubleshooting on machinery and associated electrical / electronic devices, equipment inspection and installation, equipment system performance improvement. Performs all work in accordance to company policies, procedures and regulations contained in company GMPs, safety standards, SOPs and housekeeping standards, etc. Insures that all production equipment is set-up correctly and that it operates as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:

The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to: Responsible for mechanical / electrical equipment repair and troubleshooting, process improvements, equipment changeovers, production support, as per training administered.

SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Demonstrates competency on all requirements for Mechanic, Clinical – Levels I and II.
• Performs all work in accordance to company policies, procedures and regulations contained in company GMPs, Safety Standards, SOPs etc.
• Demonstrates competency in all areas pertaining to safety; electrical safety, including Lock Out / Tag Out.
• Performs minor machine shop work as required. Ability to use various power tools, as well as diagnostic / measurement instruments such as micrometers, calipers, gauges and tachometers.
• Demonstrates mechanical-troubleshooting abilities, identifies and resolves issues utilizing systematic problem solving methods. Ability to diagnose root cause problems on equipment and resolves issues with a minimum loss of production.
• Describes and understands the components of all packaging equipment within the Clinical Facility. Describes the start-up, operation and shutdown procedures for each piece of equipment.
• Knowledge of machine controls, their functions and settings, including PLCs, HMIs, electrical / electronic devices such as photoelectric sensors, safety devices and switches.
• Read and understand drawings, schematics and equipment / technical manuals and documentation.
• Ability to perform equipment repairs, preventative maintenance activities, changeovers, and corrective troubleshooting independently.
• Demonstrates ability to remove, disassemble and repair machine components and assemblies.
• Provides guidance, assistance, team leadership, and training to Mechanic, Clinical – Levels I and II.
• Maintains records and documentation as required.
• Maintains work area, tools and equipment in a clean and safe order.
• Exhibits flexibility acquired through training to be utilized at any position as needed on all equipment within the Clinical Facility, or elsewhere in the facility, or as a trainer.
• Follows written and oral instructions in an accurate and timely manner.
• Acts as a professional representative of the company when dealing directly with clients.
• Works with customers, Project Managers, engineers on package development projects and / or package designs.
• Maintains or exceeds production rates posted on visual control boards. Works efficiently with consistent output.
• Assumes responsibility for special projects and follows them through completion.
• Communicates mechanical issues in a timely manner to Mechanical Management staff in order to avoid a large amount of downtime.
• Ability to identify and recommend spare parts and supplies necessary to maintain efficient operation of equipment.
• Demonstrates a broad range of technical competencies as it relates to production packaging equipment.
• Demonstrates the ability to maintain multiple rooms if necessary.
• May assist Supervisor as needed.
