Overview of Position Objectives:
Manager of Systems Engineer team will be responsible for various duties to maintain a 7x 24 x 365 worldwide production environment. The primary responsibilities of this position include leading team members to manage Linux server environment and Network Appliance storage systems, physical server/storage installations, OS upgrades, patch management, configuration management, security administration and DB administration.
Description of Responsibilities:
? Provide documents of configuration and troubleshooting procedures to facilitate team members
? Listening to the customer's requirement from engineering teams and discuss the options with them and provide the solution timely
? Cooperate with headquarters SA/DBA guys to support engineering team to manage development projects
? Responsible for providing the corresponding solution about server builds, configuration, backups, patches and new storage technology
? Support development teams on system deployments and performance optimizations
? Support and maintain production servers (Dell Linux Blade servers, Network Appliance filers)
? Server hardware installation; OS installation using remote installation tools (kickstart/CFEngine)
? Rotating 24x7 on-call schedule, with responsibility to find out problems and fix them
? Support and manage DB administration
? Team building, team management and project/task management
? Provide the solution of system/DB side to superiors for business strategy
? Occasional trips to the Shanghai data center to support operational issues and installations, and occasional business trip oversea
Skills / Education Requirements:
? 3+ years working experience in system administration team management
? 5+ years working experience in production system environment, including the experience of running a 24x7 service
? 3+ years Linux working experience, know well about virtual memory, file systems, performance tuning, and end-to-end troubleshooting
? 3+ years Network Appliance experience of the full lifecycle including installation, optimization, troubleshooting, upgrades, and management of fault tolerance.
? Knowledge of software features including Snapshots, SnapMirror, Flexclones and Flexcache is required.
? Ability to configure, customize, and support typical UNIX daemons, including NFS, BIND, LDAP, and Apache
? Good at production server environment collocation, power & cable management, and adherence to installation standards
? Ideally some experience in installing and configuring Cisco IOS devices
? Strong troubleshooting skills of finding out problems from the network, OS, and application levels
? Excellent organization skills, project tracking abilities and communications skills
? Ability to communicate in English verbally and in written
? Bachelor Degree or above
? Strong self-motivation and team player
? Available to occasionally work overtime for large-scale or high-priority projects
