Drawing from Western, Eastern, and Vermont values, Vermont International Academy (VIA) is a new model of world-class American college preparatory education set in Shanghai, China. Shanghai, developed over 1,000 years ago as an important seaport in the Yangtze Delta region in Eastern China, provides an ideal site for international education. VIA is a Vermont approved, English language school, preparing Chinese students for American colleges and serving Vermont students in a year abroad. VIA is designed as a 400-student school within the larger Datong High School.
Job Description
Position: Full-time Math Teacher/Dean of Students/Vermont Admissions Officer
The ideal candidates will hold a current Vermont teaching licensure, and have experience working with young men and women. A master's degree and international experience is preferable.
Part-time Dean of Students/Admissions Officer
Administrative responsibilities include:
? Recruiting, reviewing, interviewing, and selecting Vermont students for VIA
? Aiding VIA faculty in classroom disciplinary matters and in counseling students
? Serving as the disciplinary/student affairs liaison with Datong's administrators.
Teaching responsibilities include:
? Math Instruction
Position description:
Within the larger context of the Datong High School in Shanghai, China, the Vermont International Academy teacher is responsible for providing an exceptionally engaging educational atmosphere and curriculum that supports the vision and values of the Vermont International Academy. Vermont licensed teachers will work together and with the Datong High School faculty.
VIA embraces the three key features of International Baccalaureate Schools (the theory of knowledge course, the extended essay, and the creativity-action-service project). VIA will serve Chinese and Vermont students. VIA's programs and curriculum is based on the Vermont Frameworks, Vermont graduation requirements, and the Common Core State Standards. All instruction will be in English.

Job Conditions
? Travel to and from Shanghai/Vermont will be paid for annually by VIA
