Position Summary:
The Manager AME & CCT (AME = Advanced Manufacturing Engineering; CCT = Core Competence Team) is the focal point in China CA (CA = Clean Air) for all topics related to manufacturing processes for Bending, Muffler and Hot End canning.He/she is the lead for the process engineers within the plants in China and the connection outside of China. As such he/she assesses and develops the competence level of the process engineers, facilitates the process know how transfer for MFG processes implemented from other region in China and supports (potential) new projects from screening over industrialisation through to "SOP +90 days”.
The focus area for the position is Bending/Muffler and Hot End canning operations. It includes the detailed process parameter, Machine technology, the fixtures, and the checking fixtures or gauges.
The position will ensure the alignment with EU and NA and the deployment of Tenneco MFG process Standards within Tenneco EC Plants in China.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Manager AME & CCT for Bending/Muffler and Hot End canning are defined by the scope of AME and CCT:
Support and adhere to EH&S policies and procedures, especially TMSS (TEN Machine Safety Standard)
Lead the China CCT Bending/Muffler/Canning - Develop the concept of AME & CCT within the plants in China and ensure alignment with EU and NA.
Assess and develop the MFG process engineers of the respective core competence in the plants
Improve current manufacturing processes to make them more robust and LEAN, including cell layout and flow
Adopt current MFG processes to changing requirements
Lead MFG feasibility review and P-FMEA for quote input and NPI (New Project Industrialisation)
Lead manufacturing concept design and ensure fixture-/tooling details with the vendors will fulfill the requirements, apply CpK-pre-assessment
Standardize / Commonize manufacturing processes, equipment and Tooling for China in alignment with the global CCTs
Improve Business Process and report monthly for China, i. e. Capacity Utilisation, Capital Planning for the respective CCT
Ensure alignment with TEN-Standards in manufacturing concepts and between plants for Screening, Quotation Process and support cost estimation process
Ensure robust planning for new project industrialisation / launch and execution of plan according to the respective customers requirements and TEN APQP / PPAP-standards – in cooperation with the China Manager NPI (New Project Industrialisation) and Industrialisation/Launch Engineers/Managers in the plants
Lead technical / process view of development of capable suppliers and support counterparts in other SBU in their efforts to increase competitiveness through sourcing of equipment and tooling in LCC / BCC (LCC = Low Cost Country / BCC = Best Cost Country)
Develop Chinese way of innovation and make available for the benefit of TEN globally (LCC / BBC equipment / Tooling / Processes)
Regular exchange with counterparts in EU and NA AME and CCTs to ensure know how transfer and benchmark for future initiatives like Launch Factory, KBME (Knowledge Based Manufacturing & Engineering)
External contacts and benchmarking with Universities, suppliers and institutions in order to increase both process know how as well as get contact to potential workforce
Work closely with the product engineering groups (AE = Advanced Engineering / PE = Product Engineering / PD = Product Development) to ensure early involvement of the “process view”
Support Customer teams with quotes, designs, VA/VE initiatives and technical presentations.
Support the Technical Director, China, in strategic and tactical topics
Work with Prototype Shop / tool sources to verify tool and / or part construction (Verify and establish operational boundary conditions)
Requirements & Qualifications:
Bachelor or above of mechanical engineering related major.
4 to 6 years manufacturing or process engineering related experience of automotive or mechanical industry related to Bending/Muffler/Canning, ideally in a multi-plant and international / multicultural environment
Extensive experience in manufacturing processes and working knowledge
Analytical skills, conceptual thinking, structured approach to topics, drive to execution, accountable
Self starter & doer with sound base education (we do not want a scientist nor a clerk)
Ability to teach and coach with good interpersonal skills
Strong communication both in English and Chinese – German, Japanese and other language skills welcome
Mutual understanding and experience in actual application of tools: process capability, 8D, Lean, Six Sigma (ideally Green Belt / Black Belt)
Understanding of GD&T, MSA, Gauge R&R, APQP, PPAP, Run@Rate, VA/VE
Quality Management System understanding, experience in working in environment of ISO/TS 16949 / VDA 6.x
Tenneco systems (will be trained): BOS (Business Operating System), EVA (Economic Value Added), TVM (Total Value Management), CpK-pre-assessment
Ability to function and lead in a team environment.
Ability to travel to support the job function and attend training sessions, seminars, and conferences to expand job knowledge and skills repertoire.
