The Position

As a scientist you will provide expertise in molecular virology/microbiology to support discovery and clinical programs in histopathology or antimicrobial as well as antiviral drug discovery and development. Further responsibilities are:

• You will provide expert molecular virology/microbiology support to clinical and late stage discovery programs for the development of new antiviral agents.
• Devising strategies and generating data for the assessment of antimicrobial/antiviral potency, antimicrobial/antiviral resistance development, and to determine molecular mechanisms related to antiviral potency, safety, PK and PD in the context of discovery and/or clinical studies with new therapeutic modalities and approved products.
• Establish and validate high quality, robust and sensitive molecular virology/microbiology and analytical methods for use in-house and with CROs.
• Act as virology/microbiology and non-clinical pharmacology experts in cross-
  functional discovery and clinical projects and will generate data for regulatory, clinical research and assay validation reports in addition to regular publications and presentations of clinical virology study results.
• Forming strategies towards newer target validations
• Executing scientific plans by generating experimental results
• Providing biology support to drug discovery projects
• Representative on multidisciplinary teams.

You have a PhD degree in the field of Biology, Microbiology, Immunology, Biochemistry or Molecular Biology with postdoctoral experience. Further requirements are:

• Proven publication record and preferentially 6+ yrs experience
• Proven knowledge in Virology/Microbiology
• Relevant experience in virology with broad experience with DNA, RNA viruses or other infectious agents highly desirable
• Proven knowledge of methods and strategies related to the assessment of antiviral efficacy and resistance development
• Clinical Sample Management / Handling
• Practical experience in bacteriology, viral & cellular extractions, tissue culture, DNA/RNA extraction and purification, cloning and PCR techniques, RNA/DNA sequencing, immune assay development and Immunofluorescence.
• BSL III Training and willingness to work in the lab
• Additional competences, like social skills, teamwork, entrepreneurial attitude, good communication skills,
• Collaborative attitude, inquisitive and interested in learning new skills, proactive attitude
• Excellent English language skills, written and verbal
