1.0 Position Summary

a. Responsible for providing comprehensive technical assessment of materials as applied in Surface wellhead and tree API6A oilfield equipment supply chain in Asia.

b. Manage all physical and process metallurgy and control issues related to supplier activities, as well as vendor development for the APME supply base.

c. Study and report the behavior of metals under stress, temperature and pressure using a variety of techniques and equipment to assess the physical structure and behavior of the metals.

d. Analyze and evaluate the control of the shaping of metals through casting, rolling, forging and drawing; and the joining of metals through welding and soldering techniques.

e. Overall control, supervision and implementation of the Cameron product metallurgy and technical requirements as well as resolution of material related quality problems.

2.0 Essential Duties and Responsibilities

a. Operational support to the plant which include material specification and selection, reviewing customer specification, qualifying material, welding and coating vendor.

b. Support vendor development activities for Cameron's Surface System, focusing mainly on the Asia (China, India, SE Asia) supply base.

c. Review of non conformance on metallurgical issue and lead the technical audit of new and existing vendors.

d. Conduct supplier training in the area of metallurgy.

e. Propose sampling plans and scope of testing for various product groups for laboratory analysis and testing.

f. Investigate whether methods being used are the most cost effective, efficient and environmentally acceptable.

g. Develop and update design tools, rules, standards, manuals, and guides in the area of metallurgy, materials selection and corrosion engineering

h. Participate in materials failure analyses and root cause investigation of corrosion and material related failures

i. Participate in development and execution of commercial activities such as developing business plans, developing new products and services, bid proposals, scope development, and providing products and services

j. Expedite and assist supplier's first article or QTC sample production by making technical queries, translations, verifying adherence to specifications and deviations from Cameron standard; also in checking equivalence to National standards, use of equivalent but non ASTM measurement tools, review of alternate processing methods and acceptance of differentiation of chemistry.

k. Consult with the customer or other Cameron Metallurgists to provide troubleshooting and technical support in the areas of corrosion, metallurgy, welding, fabrication, inspection and equipment integrity management

l. Develop and maintain Best Practice Guides and supporting documents for corrosion and materials or inspection issues

m. Prepare technical reports.

3.0 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

· Bachelor degree in Engineering (Mechanical/ Metallurgical/ Welding/Materials) or equivalent is required.

· Able to accept responsibility and make decisions remotely.

· Able to identify, analyse and solve problems, is both practical and creative, and can work without supervision.

· Technical knowledge in materials, welding, coating/painting, NDE inspection and exposure to multi discipline works in the oil and gas industry an advantage.

· Experience in the metal working techniques (hot rolling, cold rolling, melting, forging) and heat treatment of forged steel a strong advantage; foundry and cast iron experience also helps.

· Practical experience with material characterization techniques (SEM, TEM, XRD, BET Surface area, PSD, Dilatometry, Metallography, fracture analysis etc.)

· Familiarity with ANSI, ASME, ASTM, API 6A and BS codes and China GB Standards used in the oil and gas industry.

· Strong communication, team-building and facilitation skills required.

· Good command of spoken and written English and Mandarin.

· Computer literate and good working knowledge in Microsoft Office programs, PowerPoint, etc

· Formal training in audit techniques preferred.

· Broad knowledge of total quality management, ISO 9001:2000.
