About the FLA
The Fair Labor Association (FLA) combines the efforts of industry, civil society organizations, and colleges and universities to protect workers' rights and improve working conditions worldwide by promoting adherence to international labor standards. The FLA is headquartered in Washington, D.C., and has offices in Geneva, Switzerland, Istanbul, Turkey and Shanghai, China. For more information see www.fairlabor.org.
Position Description
The FLA is seeking an several individuals to undertake a variety of company assessments in various countries as required and contribute to the development and implementation of the FLA Sustainable Compliance Initiative (SCI), including its policies, tools and strategies.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
? Organize, conduct, and report on assessments, including dealing with external stakeholders such as enterprise management, workers and unions, Ministry of Labor officials, civil society representatives and international buyers. Assess progress in the implementation of recommended remediation measures and activities, including sustainability.
? Actively contribute to the development and implementation of the FLA Sustainable Compliance Initiative, including its policies, tools and strategies.
? Plan, organize and facilitate required meetings, training, seminars and workshops; Represent the FLA as required.
? Monitor and document the development of local labor laws and regulations, as well as other relevant laws and regulations, and local and regional employment trends for selected countries.
? Translate, as required, relevant documents, official correspondence, news releases, and other public information materials.
? This position requires extensive travel of at least 75%.
Qualifications
? University degree in law, sociology, human resource management, industrial relations, or other relevant field, or the equivalent in experience
? At least 3 years of professional experience in a relevant field, such as corporate social responsibility, law, social research, human resource management, or industrial relations
? Strong knowledge of office computer programs.
? Excellent command of English and Mandarin.
