Our semiconductor solutions bring IndoorGPS? technology to the full spectrum of mobile wireless devices including handsets, smartphones, PDAs, and other wireless devices. Our A-GPS network infrastructure products and data services power the global location services of our mobile operator customers.

The applications team in the GPS Business Unit is responsible for directly assisting our customers with the integration of Broadcom GPS and other connectivity devices into our customer's products. This experienced hardware / system engineer will report to the GPS Business Unit AE Manager and work with cross-functional teams and will have as his / her main responsibility the hardware technical support of various handset, PND, camera, and other manufacturers who are integrating the Broadcom A-GPS chipset into their high-volume commercial products.

Responsibilities include:

? Hardware schematic and layout reviews and advice, including antennas, shielding, and estimated noise figure

? Diagnosis of RF and antenna related issues that affect system performance, including interoperability with other RF communications

? Provide in-depth support in resolving complex customer hardware and systems issues (eg. board bring-up, performance testing) either remotely or at customer locations

? Give advice in wireless communication standards related to A-GPS as well as technical support during interoperability tests with network equipment vendors or even live cellular networks

? Review and write test reports according to both internal Broadcom and customer specific requirements

? Work within applications engineering, with other business units, and with customers to generate and promote sample applications, system level documentation, and analysis tools

? Work with R&D to field test new features as well as feeding back customer requirements, market information, and issues that can enhance our products

Job Requirements:

? BS or MS degree in electrical engineering, 5-10 years of applicable hands-on experience

? In-depth knowledge of radio frequency and wireless systems, hardware and antennas, EMI, HW schematics / PCB layouts

? Excellent RF, TCXO, and system debugging skills

? Experience with Spectrum Analyzers, RF signal generators, Noise Figure measurements

? Knowledge of current available RF devices, SAW filters, LNAs, and TCXOs

? Studious collector of data

? Previous experience with GPS receivers and/or protocols used with Assisted GPS are a plus

? Self-reliant, self-motivated, able to work multiple tasks under pressure and to tight schedules.

? Ability to successfully interact with customers, good presentation skills

? Ability to travel throughout China as well as internationally, sometimes on short notice

? Oral and written communication skills in English

? Cover letters must include a description of how GPS works in 50 words or less.
