POSITION SUMMARY
Conduct structural durability and NVH analyses using FEA on current and new products to provide design direction and verification.
Develop new analytical/numerical methods to evaluate fatigue lives of, and to predict and correlate the nonlinear stresses, modal frequencies and mode shapes of exhaust system and/or components.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
? Create and analyze finite element models consistent with product use environment.
? Generate technical reports and interpret analysis results to internal and external customers.
? Verify (Correlate) simulation results with testing. Demonstrate agreement of simulation with actual measurement.
? Develop and implement optimization tools to expedite the product development process
? Work closely with business unit engineers and communicate between our organization and customer as needed.
? Support Product Development Cycle (PDC) process and APQP (DFMEA, etc).
? Participate in the development of improved design guidelines consistent with customer requirements.
? Apply engineering and problem solving methods and tools (FMEAs, 8ds, stress analysis) in resolving engineering design problems.
? Support and adhere to TA procedures.
? Work both independently and with TCTC/GLK/EDK engineers to develop new analytical/numerical methods to evaluate fatigue lives of, and to predict and correlate the nonlinear stresses, modal frequencies and mode shapes of exhaust system and/or components.
? Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
· Min 2 years of Finite Element Analysis required.
· Experience in coupon material and/or component fatigue testing preferred.
· Prior experience with structural NVH, Durability, optimization and automotive exhaust product development strongly preferred.
· PhD in Continuum mechanics
· Understanding of fatigue mechanisms of metallic materials.
· Understanding of constitutive relationship for metallic materials.
· Understanding of theory of Finite Element methods.
· Experience using the following tools required: HyperWork, MSC/NASTRAN, and Abaqus.
