Responsibilities & Main Tasks:

• Design and test mechanical components for laboratory products.
• Write design and specification documents, test plans, and progress reports.
• Document designs using 2D- and 3D-CAD software, including simulations.
• Perform design Reviews. Test & verify against specs and standards. Create reports.
• Work with technicians, contractors, manufacturers and consultant staff as needed.
• Provide support to technical support staff.

Education and Training:

• Minimum BSME or similar with 4 years of design experience.

Knowledge and Experience:

• A high level of technological, scientific and mathematical skill is essential. Desirable mechanical design experience includes high precision machined parts, casted parts, forged parts, sheet metal parts, plastics (e.g. injection molded) parts as well as electromechanical components e.g. keypads, motors, actuators etc.. Industrial design experience is desirable. Experience with the relevant manufacturing processes is required. Experience with working in an international environment is valuable.
• Good knowledge on material characteristics, both plastics and various metal alloys.
• Testing (verification and validation) of parts, components and modules is understood as part of the development process. Experience with Quality methodology like FMEA and Risc Analysis would be an advantage.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills are essential. Knowledge and/or experience in a regulated development environment and in product verification is also a plus.
• Proficient computer skills and in-depth knowledge of relevant software such as MS Office Suite and mechanical design and simulation tools. Ptc Creo Elements and SolidWorks knowledge is of advantage.
• Knowledge of local and international standards, standard practices and procedures is essential.
• The position requires skills to communicate to the company internal clients as well as to suppliers. Proficient knowledge of English Language both written and spoken is essential.
