Job Purpose:
Senior consultants are full fee-earners who are learning skills and growing in experience. Though case managers with client management responsibilities, they will require guidance in particular areas of investigation from seniors.
Main Accountability:
Case work
- Act as case managers and service multiple assignments of reasonable complexity
- Requires support in more complex or multi-jurisdictional tasks
- Able to write proposals, investigate, use outside resources, write reports and invoice in a timely fashion
- Able to prepare and present elements in a larger investigation as part of team
- Have client contact on particular assignments where case manager
Business development
- Contribute to marketing and profile raising events
- Participate in client meetings
- Begin to develop longer-term client relationships
- Seek opportunities to develop projects and business generally, in conjunction with seniors
- Seek opportunities to be involved in product development with seniors

- Thorough and detail-oriented research that results in well-organized reports
- Must be able to meet deadlines under pressure, while providing quality work
- Ability to manage projects to meet set budget and objectives
- Ability and interest in developing client management skills, focused on understanding and interpreting client needs
Problem Solving/Decision Making
- Strong analytical/investigative mindset required, critical thinking and problem solving
- Decision-making capabilities, including ability to judge when to seek advice
Communication
- Effective communication skills required – written and oral ability to communicate complex ideas concisely
- Ability to interpret and contextualize complex or highly localized issues to general audiences
- Ability to actively listen to and understand outside perspectives
- Presentation skills desirable
Relationships/Personal
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with all types of people at various levels and across jurisdictions as required
Knowledge and Expertise
Essential
- A bachelor’s degree and/or master’s degree in accounting, finance or business
- 3-5 years’ experience with a Big Four accounting firm, and/or in-house audit/compliance role with MNCs in China
- Accountancy certifications (e.g. CICPA, CPA, ACCA, CA) strongly preferred
- Substantial knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Native written/spoken Mandarin skills and proficient in English, both spoken and written
- Willingness to travel
Preferred
- Due diligence, research or analysis experience that includes significant writing experience
- Prior experience in consulting or in an internal compliance / investigation / audit department in a large corporation
- Experience of operating within a commercial environment
