About Us and History
BAL opened for business in a small garage more than 30 years ago as a family-owned start-up company. Through our hard work and dedication to providing the highest quality products, on time, and at a fair price, Bay Area Labels grew quickly and gained a solid reputation among silicon valley electronic, medical, and software companies as the preferred supplier of front panel overlays, custom labels, membrane switches, and more in the Bay Area.

A time of change
In 2006 BAL proudly became part of the Illinois Tool Works, Inc. (NYSE: ITW) family of companies. Under the ITW umbrella, BAL San Jose, and BAL Shanghai are an important part of the the ITW BIGG (branding, identification, and graphics group) which also includes Central Label Products, FB Johnston Graphics, and ITW Labels/Diagraph/Hobart. With the resources, synergies, and successful business practices of ITW and the BIGG group backing us, BAL is poised for continued growth in the custom product identification and components market for many years to come.
