ROLE PURPOSE:

To lead the overall Accounting Function in Region Greater China across all legal entities and ensure all financial compliance aspects of the China entities are well controlled, monitored and reported accurately and efficiently in accordance with internal and local reporting requirements, as well as compliance with international accounting standards for Group reporting. The role holder will be the Senior Financial Executive in all financial relationships (including negotiations) with auditors, authorities and government officials including but not limited to SAFE (State Agency for Foreign Exchange), Port Authorities and Tax Authorities. In addition, the role holder will play a vital role in the further business development of Greater China including establishment of additional sales offices and supply chain solutions. The role holder will work closely with the International Tax Manager and maintain good relationship with local authorities including tax, customs and statutory audit. The role holder is part of the Region Greater China Leadership Team and part of the Finance Leadership Team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Leads the overall Accounting function across all entities in Greater China.

· Sr. Financial Executive in all dealings with Auditors, Consultants & Local Authorities to ensure compliance on statutory accounting standards & tax requirements.

· Develops strategies and processes to minimize future problems relating to finance.

· Monitor and troubleshoot the performance of financial system in China

· Develop, monitor and promote continuous improvements of functional procedures and processes by conducting work value analyses and studies to optimize methods and procedures

· Motivate and encourage the accounting team in China to maintain high productivity

· Ensure timely preparation of management information reports and data

· Evaluate accounting operations and activities and recommend improvements on existing procedures

· Plan and coordinate with auditors on audit timeline and requirements.

· Review contract & agreement and advise tax impact and any financial risks.

· Liaise with Head of Cash management to ensure sufficient cash flow and optimize cash utilization.

· Safeguard Company assets by setting adequate controls to ensure the Asset Register is maintained in accordance with the procedure and review all requests for write-off/disposal are justified

REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge:

· CPA with university degree or above in Finance / Accounting

· Proven track record in Accounting / IFRS e.g. from recognized consulting firm or multinational company

· Experience from the chemicals / petrochemicals industry is preferred but not a requirement

Experience:

· A minimum of 12 years or more of relevant experience,

· Experience with big 4 accounting firm preferred

· Experience from MNC with similar capacity in China is required

Skills:

· Excellent communication skills

· Proficiency in English and Chinese (Mandarin) spoken and written

· Good business understanding

· Good planning and prioritization skills

· Excellent financial skills & knowledge of IFRS
