Position: Field Applications Engineering Manager
Location: Shanghai or Shenzhen


Summary: Persons employed in this position manage technical staff and support activities including assessment of how company products meet customer needs and the preparation of product specifications for development and installation of customized applications/solutions. The Field Applications Engineering Manager is responsible for multi-disciplinary teams with design and manufacturing related functions required by key BU account customers, working synergistically with sales and manufacturing to achieve all customer design targets and goals.


Responsibilities:
1.Establishes and maintains lines of communication with design engineering on issues such as considerations for product reliability. Manage and direct a Field Application Engineer team consisting of multiple engineering disciplines.
2.Works with marketing and product managers to define new products and may provide insight from the field back to these groups. Manage and coordinate activities between departments to meet product development requirements.
3.Simultaneously set priorities/direction for multiple programs and teams in development.
4.Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
5.May attend customer design review meetings and provide technical design support for SBU solutions. Present design solutions to customer team, utilizing solid model design techniques during presentation
6.Utilizeall product offerings, providing insightful and detailed design solutions.
7.Develop prototype, tool build, and initial production build to meet customer timelines.
8.Oversee the creation and release of final production documentation, detailed with critical dimensions and tolerances required for a functional part, but also taking into account manufacturing restrictions.
9.Responsible for working with OEM engineers, Manufacturer's Representatives, Distribution Partners and Territory Sales Managers to implement Laird Technologies provided solutions for existing, qualifying new and next generation and cost reduction programs.
10.Keep work skills current to insure Laird Technologies competitiveness in a dynamic global business environment. May require extensive travel to customer sites required providing design specific solutions.
Adheres to quality and safety systems or maintenance of quality and safety standards.

Required Skills:
Excellent time management skills.
Proficient with solid-modeling software, preferable Pro/Engineering or Solid Works
Understanding of Finite Element Analysis process (Mechanical property of metal bending),preferably with a history of analyzing boundary conditions and results.
Exhibit understanding of the cross-functional relationships between inter-company groups and the expertise required to take a product through development and on to production.
Good communication skills, both oral and written in English.
Attention to detail.
Demonstrate skill in Microsoft Project.
Metal products experience preferred over ECE FOF and Absorbor products.

Required Education background and experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or technical field. Mechanical ME preferred over Electrical EE
Experience/knowledge in manufacturing processes preferred.
3+ years experience in a Field Applications Engineering.
3+ years experience with sheet metal manufacturing and design.
3+ years experience with thermal management and implementation of thermal solutions.
5+ years design experience.
