JOB SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Head of Mission or his/her spouse, coordinates and organizes the daily preparation of food for official receptions, luncheon, dinners and the family of the Head of Mission; and performs other duties.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:

Education:
? Formal education/training from a certified culinary school.

Language:
? Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking)
? Proficiency in Mandarin (reading, writing and speaking)



Experience:
? Minimum 3 years work experience relevant and recent (within last 5 years) experience as a Cook;
? Experience supervising team.

Knowledge:
? Knowledge of food safety.

Abilities/skills:
? Ability to maintain the kitchen in a hygienic standard appropriate for health & safety at all times
? Ability to order and purchase ingredients and kitchen supplies as appropriate
? Ability to prepare, plan, manage, and oversee official receptions and functions including breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and buffets, as it relates to preparing Western style dishes
? Ability to develop creative menu to suit the circumstances of a given function
? Ability to set priorities and work under pressure

ASSET CRITERIA:

Preferred standing may be given to those candidates who also meet the following:

Language:
? Proficiency in French (reading, writing and speaking)

Experience:
? Experience in working as a Chef in a western hotel or restaurant.


OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
? Ability and willingness to work overtime on short notice as required;
? Able to travel domestically and internationally as required
? Ability to obtain and maintain a valid working authorization in China is a condition of your employment at the Consulate
