Responsibilities:

The Operations Surveyor will manage the planning, execution, evaluation and continuous improvement of onshore survey services provided to a varied range of customers across Shell. To ensure customer requirements are met and customer risks are managed, with special emphasis on HSE, asset and information integrity, and ensuring that the customer realizes the full potential and value of Geomatics.

The role of the Operations Surveyor is to plan, coordinate, and manage onshore survey activities for construction, well, pipeline, and facilities operations. The Operations Surveyor oversees the performance of the survey operations and contractors to ensure the services meet technical, regulatory, HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment), cost and timeline requirements of the projects.
The Operations Surveyor will be accountable for:
Coordination and project management of all Geomatics operations projects and activities within a specific area of interest.
Coordination of mapping activities with support from Geomatics GIS staff as necessary.
Define Geomatics scope of work and cost estimates based on project requirements.
Initiate and participate in the tendering process for Geomatics contracts.
Technical and operational guidance / advice to survey contractors, on-site representatives,and project team.
Monitor progress and technical and HSSE compliance (including regulatory, cost and schedule) to ensure that Geomatics-related contractual requirements are met.
Provide evaluation and feedback to survey contractors regarding technical and HSSE performance.
Review and approve invoices for Geomatics projects to ensure alignment with contract rates.
Report cost to Project Team and applicable cost controllers / finance representatives.
Implementation of Shell’s Onshore Geomatics standards and procedures and input into the survey contractors proposed project execution plan.
Implementation / adaptation of new regulatory or technical procedures in the workflow.
Analyse the operational,cost,and technical performance of newly developed technology for process improvement.
Share learning from operations with in other subject matter areas in UA.

Requirements:

An Operations Surveyor should be a highly motivated individual with good communication and networking skills. He/she should have a strong business sense coupled with the commitment to deliver step changes in terms of project efficiency and profitability.

Prior work in the projects environment, new technology application, and working in multi disciplined teams a distinct advantage.
Knowledge and Skills:
Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full time basis for anyone other than their current employer.
Geomatics or related (B.Sc.) degree preferred, with Survey Certificate from a recognized university.
Three (3) to Five (5) years experience of relevant Geomatics Operations experience in the Oil and Gas Business.
Technical and operational knowledge of every phase in Onshore Geomatics operations.
Knowledgeable in coordinate systems, projections, spatial data management and the importance of data integrity in a GIS environment.
Effective contractor management skills.
Broad knowledge and experience (both technical and regulatory) for different types of EP projects.
Broad and in depth knowledge in HSE Management Systems.
General knowledge of LiDAR datasets and the deliverables.
General knowledge of TIN modelling and design of Surface pads and Access Roads.
General knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Geo-information Management (GIM).
