The PayPal Risk Quality Engineering team is looking for exceptional software engineers interested in Quality. We are looking for engineers to help test new Fraud detection and Risk management features, enabling scalability and reliability for our rapidly growing user base. Help us minimize financial Risk for PayPal and its users and combat Fraudsters as we add new financial instruments and systems, and build out our Risk infrastructure for the future. The Staff Software Engineer in Quality role provides an exciting opportunity to utilize your software development skills towards implementing test solutions. You will need to be innovative in your approach and exercise creativity in your delivery.

• Development and support the testing of product features throughout the different phases of the development cycle.

• Work with engineers, team leads, managers to help deliver innovative testing solutions that meet market needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, realistic implementation schedules.

• Influence development managers and architects to insure that appropriate levels of quality and testability is built-in to the design and code

• Proactively recommend coding solutions and solve problems. Test and automate in parallel with development activities.

• Review both application and test code for peers in both development and quality engineering

• Develop test APIs, utilities, and contribute to existing frameworks

•Design, develop and lead Paypal QE initiative. As part of QE team, this individual will be responsible for the oversight and development of broad testing framework / unit, functional and integration testing

•Estimate testing effort, prioritize projects, plan implementations, and help rollout system changes. Help define, and supervise the testing of complex, multi-tier distributed software systems and impacted domains that provide value-add from site quality perspective.

•Develop test plans test cases & test tools, and work with the development and other QA teams to ensure standard QA processes are followed including usage of Test Case management systems.

• Identify process, technology challenges and deficiencies that need to be addressed and drive those changes to successful adoption.

Test Engineer Requirements:

• 8+ years of industry experience with strong proven ability to program in Java or similar Object-Oriented language (C++ or C#)

• Knowledge or experience with interface testing, API, SOA, XML, and web services

• Passion for software quality and solving problems in traditional web and mobile web spaces.

• Knowledge of or experience working in Agile/Scrum environment

• Working experience with Continuous Integration, Selenium RC or Webdriver, and TestNG

Other Requirements:

• Strong leadership in both technical and project management

• Excellent problem solving skills and proactive test-engineering acumen.

• An ability to communicate effectively with business owners and peers (onshore and offshore) across teams

• Deals well with ambiguity and comfortable being responsible for entire product lines.

• Able to articulate your ideas and thoughts to an global team

Bachelor degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related fields. Masters or Ph.D degree a plus.
